Launching the contest "I love my homeland's sea and islands" in Ba Ria-Vung Tau

(HQ Online) - The Command of Coast Guard Region 3 has just launched the contest "I love my homeland's sea and islands" in 2025-2026 for middle school students in coastal districts and cities of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.

The launching ceremony was connected online from the main bridge at the Coast Guard Region 3 Command to 57 bridge points of departments, education departments, and secondary schools in Vung Tau City, Xuyen Moc District, Long Dat District, and Con Dao District.

Colonel Le Van Tu, Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command, said that in implementing the mass mobilization work "Coast Guard accompanies fishermen", in recent years, along with successfully carrying out assigned political tasks, the Vietnam Coast Guard has effectively implemented propaganda work on seas and islands, and disseminated laws to all classes of people with rich and diverse content and forms.

The contest "I love my homeland's sea and islands" aims to widely disseminate basic knowledge about Vietnam's sea and islands, about the Vietnam People's Army and the Vietnam Coast Guard; regulations of Vietnamese law and international treaties related to the sea and islands; about the history of national and local traditions of building and defending the country... thereby contributing to building and fostering patriotism, love for the homeland's sea and islands and raising awareness and responsibility of students for the cause of building and protecting sovereignty, maintaining security, order and safety in the seas and islands of the Fatherland" - Colonel Le Van Tu.

Up to now, the Vietnam Coast Guard has successfully organized more than 122 "I love my homeland's sea and islands" contests in 35 provinces and cities, with more than 60,000 students directly participating in the contest, awarded nearly 5,000 scholarships, more than 2,000 bicycles and sponsored 26 students in especially difficult circumstances.

The contest "I love my homeland's sea and islands" has become an activity with profound political education significance, a useful and effective playground, highly appreciated by Party committees and authorities at all levels, attracting a large number of students, teachers and people from all walks of life to actively respond and participate.

Promoting the effectiveness of the contest model, at the proposal of the Vietnam Coast Guard, on September 3, 2024, the Minister of National Defense signed Decision No. 3934/QD-BQP approving the Project to organize the contest "I love my homeland's sea and islands" nationwide for the period 2024-2030 and the following years.

In response to the general requirements and policies, the Command of Coast Guard Region 3 was assigned by the Project Steering Committee to coordinate with functional agencies in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, directly the Department of Education and Training of the province, to organize a pilot competition to gain experience for the effective implementation of the Project in the coming time.

The contest "I love the sea and islands of my homeland" in 2025-2026 in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province has 3 rounds: round 1 takes place from March 19 to March 26, organizing an online contest for all secondary school students in districts and cities in the province; round 2 takes place on March 29, organizing a direct provincial contest for 100 students with the best results in round 1; round 3 will be held in March 2026 as a regional round (including 3 coastal provinces: Binh Thuan, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh City).
