At 90 years old and 64 years in the Party, Mr. Tran Sy Thoai, a member of the Kim Tan village Party Cell, Tan Loc commune, Loc Ha district (Ha Tinh), has always devoted himself to his homeland with simple but meaningful words and actions, setting an example.

In 1950, at the age of 17, young Tran Sy Thoai volunteered to join the resistance war against the French. After 4 years of fighting in the Central Laos battlefield, in 1954, he was demobilized and returned to his hometown to participate in the Youth Union. Enthusiastic, passionate, and responsible, Tran Sy Thoai was quickly trained and admitted as a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 1959.
In 1960, he continued to study primary education at Ha Tinh Pedagogical School and taught at Tan Loc Primary School. In the following years (from 1963 to 1975), he was a cadre of the Rural Work Committee (Ha Tinh Administrative Committee), Agricultural Cooperative (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development); a direct Party cadre of the Ha Tinh Food Service Party Committee; an organizational cadre of the Party Committee of the Party Civil Agencies (now the Party Committee of the Ha Tinh Agencies and Enterprises Bloc).
From 1976, he was an organizational officer of the Can Loc District Party Committee. From 1979 to 1981, he was a member of the District Party Committee and Deputy Head of the Organization Board of the Can Loc District Party Committee. In 1982, due to poor health, he retired.
Despite his old age and poor health, Mr. Thoai always actively participates in local movements.
As one of the first people to advise on the work of organizing cadres in the early days of the establishment of the Party Committee of the Party's Civil Agencies, Mr. Thoai was always dedicated and responsible for his work. Until later, when he had been a cadre doing Party work for nearly 20 years, whenever talking about building the Party organization and Party members, Mr. Thoai could spend the whole day passionately talking and sharing.
With that same passion, when he returned to his hometown to rest, when his health was better and he was trusted by the Kim Tan village Party Cell, he still contributed to the locality as the Party Cell Secretary from 1988 to 1991. Not only was he a loyal party member who passed on revolutionary ideals and beliefs to the next generation, he was also a shining example in contributing to funds for the poor, gratitude funds, and building new rural areas in the village; actively mobilizing and calling on his children and grandchildren to participate in local movements.
From Mr. Thoai's pioneering work, a 400m long road in Kim Tan village has been widened by 3.5m.
In particular, in 2020, when the alley in Kim Tan village was narrow, Mr. Thoai was the pioneer in mobilizing the inter-family group to expand the road. From Mr. Thoai's initiative, the inter-family group completed the expansion of a spacious 400m long, 3.5m wide road.
Mr. Thoai became a special advisor to the Tan Loc Commune Party Committee in Party building work.
Mr. Nguyen Duy Ngu - Secretary of Kim Tan village Party Cell said: "Every time the village calls for sharing from everyone, Mr. Thoai, despite his old age and weak health, is always the first to actively support and call on his children, grandchildren, brothers, and neighbors to support. Now, although he is exempted from participating in Party cell activities, whenever he is still healthy, Mr. Thoai always comes to participate in activities and gives his heartfelt and profound opinions to contribute to the organization's development. His exemplary lifestyle, humanity, and morality make us, the next generation, admire him and constantly follow his example."
With many contributions to his work, Mr. Thoai was awarded the Third Class Glorious Soldier Medal; the Anti-French Resistance Medal; and a commemorative medal for his contributions to Party building and organization...
The commune Party Committee has more than 300 party members, including more than 100 party members aged 50 or older. Elderly party members always promote the role of tall trees, exemplary, becoming bright examples for younger generations of party members and people to follow. Mr. Tran Sy Thoai is one of the typical party members of the commune Party Committee. Whenever the locality has major activities, we always seek Mr. Thoai as a special advisor in Party building work."
