Uncle Ho's Hometown Sen has now entered the subconscious of Vietnamese people, grown in President Ho Chi Minh's hometown, Kim Lien commune (Nam Dan). That affectionate name has become the brand of 15 products belonging to 2 lines of drinking tea (including lotus heart tea, lotus tea, lotus rice tea) and food lines (including fresh and dried lotus seeds, fresh and dried lotus roots, lotus root starch, lotus jam, lotus seed cake) of Uncle Ho's Hometown Sen Cooperative.

Mr. Pham Kim Tien - Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of Sen Que Bac Cooperative shared: Out of 15 products, 11 products have been recognized as meeting OCOP standards, including 4 4-star products and 7 3-star products. Currently, the number of users of OCOP Sen Que Bac products is very large, which is the greatest success of the product.

In addition to being evaluated and ranked as OCOP, the lotus tea product of Sen Que Bac Cooperative became one of the 100 typical products nationwide to be awarded the "Mai An Tiem" Award for the first time in 2024 by the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance; at the same time, it was awarded the National Quality Award in 2024 selected and recognized by the Ministry of Science and Technology based on criteria of product quality, competitiveness and market spread...

Thien Nhan lemon products of Nam Kim Lemon Cooperative with main ingredients from lemons available on Thien Nhan mountain range in Nam Kim, Khanh Son, Thuong Tan Loc communes (Nam Dan) with a scale of over 700 hectares, with 6 3-star OCOP products, have also affirmed their brand in the market. In particular, 3 herbal products, including floor cleaner, laundry detergent, dishwashing liquid, are known and used by many consumers in Nghe An and localities in Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Dong Nai, Vung Tau, Tien Giang, Ho Chi Minh City...

Based on the support from Thien Tam Fund, under Vingroup Corporation, for Nam Kim Lemon Cooperative to improve its management capacity, production capacity and process, product quality and market; according to Mr. Dang Van Hoa - Director of Nam Kim Lemon Cooperative, the Cooperative is currently investing in modern technology lines and developing members with about 500 lemon growing households to build a stable raw material area in Nam Dan district and develop production scale in a number of provinces and cities across the country.

If the product lines of Uncle Ho's lotus and Thien Nhan lemon are built and developed on the basis of locally available raw materials, the soy sauce product, the "Sa Nam Huong Duong" brand, which achieved 3-star OCOP of the Sa Nam Soy Sauce Production and Processing Agricultural Cooperative, is developed from the traditional products of the homeland "Thanh Chuong pickled vegetables, Nam Dan soy sauce".

Ms. Ho Thi Xuan Huong - Chairwoman of the Board of Directors and Director of Sa Nam Huong Duong Soy Sauce Production and Processing Agricultural Cooperative said: “The development of OCOP products has created a systematic production process, ensuring product quality. Although soy sauce products are picky about customers, not every family uses them, but among the “community” of traditional soy sauce users, when using the product “Sa Nam Huong Duong”, they do not use any other soy sauce, so revenue increases steadily every year, about 10%”.

Through studying the production process and market evaluation of OCOP products in Nam Dan district, we have received positive feedback on product quality. OCOP products in Nam Dan district are built and developed in 2 groups: Group of traditional local products and group based on exploiting available raw materials in the area. Divided by usage groups, including food group, herbal group, beverage group; rural tourism service group; souvenir group, furniture, decoration...

With the goal of exploiting and promoting the potentials and traditional values ​​of the locality, at the same time, promoting the transformation of the economic structure and rural labor structure; especially, with the desire to create products to serve tourists when returning to Nam Dan - the hometown of President Ho Chi Minh; the work of directing the development of OCOP products is a political task that the district Party Committee, government and grassroots authorities are interested in directing.

The District People's Committee has issued the Project of the "One Commune One Product" OCOP Program in Nam Dan District associated with tourism development, period 2019 - 2025 and orientation to 2030. The Steering Committee for New Rural Development at the district level directly directs the program; establishes a district-level OCOP team to both advise the Steering Committee and directly guide and support the subjects in building OCOP products.

To ensure that all communes have products that meet OCOP standards, the Steering Committee for New Rural Development of the district directly invited the heads of Party committees and authorities at the establishments that have not yet developed products to discuss, both to encourage and assign specific responsibilities. Thanks to that, after 5 years of methodical and drastic direction, Nam Dan has become the leading district in the province in terms of the number of OCOP products with a total of 81 products reaching 3 stars or higher, of which 9 products reached 4 stars.

In addition to affirming the large quantity, value and quality of OCOP products on the market, as discussed by comrade Nguyen Hong Son - Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the District People's Committee: The OCOP program has had a positive impact on rural economic development, transforming from small-scale agricultural production to value chain linkage, according to standards, regulations, traceability and market demand. Many localities have planned and developed "specialty" raw material areas such as lotus, lemon, cassava, soybeans, persimmons, tangerines, etc., raising calves and hill chickens; associated with the development of rural industries, preserving and developing traditional occupations; contributing to creating jobs and increasing income for people in rural areas.


Nam Dan district continues to be determined to increase the number of OCOP products and enhance the value and brand of products in the market.
