Promoting local strengths

When it was first established, Ms. Loan's facility only had 2-3 workers, but now it has grown in scale, with dozens of workers; each day it produces 100,000 incense sticks of various sizes. Near the Lunar New Year, the amount of incense sold on the market increases 5-6 times. Thanks to the stable development of the traditional incense making profession, Ms. Loan's family earns a profit of 200-300 million VND each year, creating regular jobs for 20 to 25 workers. Although the production season is concentrated in the last 3 months of the year, the raw materials are selected and prepared from the beginning of the year. Thanks to ensuring quality and prestige, the agarwood products are sold out as soon as they are produced. "Our facility's agarwood products achieved the provincial 3-star OCOP standard in 2019. Since then, we have always improved the quality and diversified the product sizes to suit customer needs," Ms. Loan shared. These are brocade fabrics with eye-catching decorative patterns, bearing their own unique characteristics. The products are dyed with natural materials, harvested in the garden or from forest trees, so the quality of brocade is different from other regions. Ms. Sam Thi Bich, founder of Hoa Tien Brocade Craft Village Cooperative, said that instead of dyeing by hand, the cooperative invests in machinery and transfers dyeing technology to members to help improve product quality. Therefore, the cooperative's products maintain their durability and beauty. In 2019, Hoa Tien Brocade Craft Village Cooperative had 3 products (scarf, skirt, tablecloth) that met OCOP 3-star standards; by 2023, 3 more products will be recognized as OCOP 3-star (bags, wallets, ties). “Currently, brocade products under the Hoa Tien Brocade brand are available in many major cities in the country and are sold in France, Germany, Japan, Laos, etc. The average income of each worker in the cooperative is from 1.5 to 2.5 million VND/month. The estimated annual revenue of the cooperative is 500 million VND,” Ms. Sam Thi Bich added. People enjoy a bumper crop. To achieve that result, the local government has established an OCOP support team to register and guide the selected entities to build products that meet the requirements of the criteria set. Mr. Sam Thanh Hoai - Chairman of Chau Tien Commune People's Committee said: "In 2024, the commune will continue to complete the dossier to recognize 4 products: Quang Dung sour meat, Quy duck meat, Hoa Tien fragrant sticky rice, Muong Chieng Ngam traditional fermented wine. It is expected that in 2025, the commune will continue to complete the dossier to recognize more products: Hoa Tien fragrant rice, grilled fish, beef, pork...". Develop more OCOP products
Implementing Project No. 06-DA/HU of the Standing Committee of Quy Chau District Party Committee on "Developing key agricultural products for the period 2021-2025", the district's agricultural sector has always strived to focus on directing the foundation of stable economic development, focusing on shifting the agricultural sector as the key to replace the service and trade sectors, and building provincial-level OCOP agricultural products. Accordingly, the district's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has built agricultural models according to the process: IBM, SRI, biosafety, VietGAP... aiming to form provincial-level OCOP products. For Phuc Thinh Phat Cooperative in Dien Lam commune, up to now, there have been 8 3-star provincial-level OCOP products including: Pu Huong yellow flower tea, Pu Huong forest honey, mu tun wine, green lim mushroom wine (recognized as OCOP in 2021); Chinese sausage, pickled bamboo shoots with garlic and chili, beef jerky, buffalo jerky (recognized as OCOP in 2022). Although only established for 4 years, Phuc Thinh Phat Cooperative's products are strictly implemented in the selection of quality input materials and carefully packaged. At the same time, attention is paid to the registration of trademarks, labels, packaging and QR codes for traceability. Of which, from 2019-2020, there were 5 OCOP products including: Hoa Tien brocade weaving products of Hoa Tien Brocade Craft Village Cooperative; Ha Loan incense; Binh Minh incense; Thiet Hoi incense; Hoa Tien community tourism products. In the coming time, the district will continue to promote training and propaganda, gradually improve product brands and OCOP potential, develop OCOP products associated with building agricultural raw material areas, towards organic production, ensuring food safety; assign the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to advise the District People's Committee to integrate funding sources from different project programs, especially funding sources from the National Target Program on New Rural Development to support the subjects; the support content will focus on applying scientific and technical advances in production, supporting investment in production equipment, building and promoting product brands; mobilizing and propagating the establishment of economic organizations such as: Agricultural cooperatives, cooperative groups, farms, and family farms to participate in developing agricultural products that are strengths associated with each locality".
