In a working environment where planning, training, fostering, arranging and using female labor is given special attention, the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) is a fertile land for female laborers to have many development opportunities. At EVNNPC now, it is not rare for female cadres to be appointed to key and senior positions.

Leading EVN in gender equality

According to EVNNPC, in 2024, the Corporation's revenue will reach VND 194,745.5 billion, exceeding the plan assigned by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) (VND 183,803 billion) by 5.95%; labor productivity will reach 4.31 million kWh/person/year, exceeding the plan assigned by EVN (4.13 million kWh/person/year). This success not only helps female workers complete their production and business tasks, but also contributes positively to the development of the enterprise, affirming the leading role and promoting the development of gender equality (GGE) at EVNNPC.

Mr. Tran Minh Dung, Deputy General Director of EVNNPC, affirmed that at the Corporation, female employees are equal to men in all areas from job positions, promotion opportunities to remuneration in all policies. In particular, increasing the participation of women in management and leadership positions is one of the important goals.

In fact, at EVNNPC, strategic-level leaders are women, accounting for 16.66% of the total number of cadres at the same level, with 2 personnel positions: Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Members; Chief Accountant; senior leaders in departments have 6 heads of departments, 12 vice heads of departments, accounting for over 40% of cadres at the same level; 162 female cadres are leaders of level 3 units; 206 female cadres at the power level and equivalent.

In the period of 2021 - 2026, EVNNPC has planned female staff in all positions. If we evaluate the increasingly reduced labor structure, the increasingly streamlined organizational model leading to a reduction in the number of positions and leadership and management positions, maintaining the current proportion of female staff at EVNNPC affirms the attention and recognition of the leadership for female staff work, ensuring that EVNNPC's gender equality work is always in the leading group of units in EVN.

Training female cadres for leadership and management

Statistics as of December 31, 2024, EVNNPC has 7,152 female employees, accounting for 27.36% of the total number of employees. Closely following the production and business goals, gender equality (GEA) work at EVNNPC continues to orient female employees to maintain the spirit of continuous learning, promote innovation, dare to think and dare to do, contributing to the Corporation to successfully complete the tasks assigned by EVN, and complete the plan targets for the period 2021 - 2025.

At EVNNPC, employees, including female employees, are paid according to their job position and monthly performance evaluation score, gradually ensuring fairness for employees in the relationship between work efficiency and salary income, ensuring EVN's targets.

In 2024, EVNNPC organized 6 training courses for 266 female staff on developing digital leadership capacity in the EVN style; 6 training courses for 259 female staff on developing skills, lifestyle and professional and effective working style for female managers at levels 3 and 4... In coordination with expertise, EVNNPC Trade Union also regularly trained soft skills or specialized study sessions, talk shows, online competitions... for female workers, civil servants and laborers, Seminars, talks on gender equality at work, "Women with behavioral culture and child rearing in the 4.0 era", "Men and gender equality"...

EVNNPC has many policies and mechanisms to support female staff to develop and affirm their position at work.

To achieve the goals of gender equality, EVNNPC always creates conditions for female workers to coordinate learning, exchanging and interacting with colleagues in member units as well as units in the industry; listen to the aspirations of workers when there is a need to transfer and rearrange personnel to suit the organizational model.

In particular, EVNNPC always cares about and ensures salary and income for employees, has many forms of rewards during the year by quarter or by topic to promptly encourage employees to complete their work well, including female employees.

Criteria for selecting female personnel for leadership and management

In the action plan for the advancement of women and gender equality in 2025, EVNNPC sets out 5 goals: realizing women's equality in the field of labor and employment; improving the quality of female human resources: ensuring material and spiritual life for female workers in particular and all workers in general; continuing to enhance awareness of gender equality.

To facilitate the development of female staff, EVNNPC will continue to collect evidence to assess the capacity of each job title position to ensure job positions for employees, including female employees, in accordance with EVN's competency framework standards. Develop criteria for appointing staff with the selection of female personnel; review the list of female personnel in the planned list and have a plan to appoint them to leadership and management positions...

In addition, EVNNPC will organize online courses on gender topics for female staff to grasp opportunities, improve themselves, meet skills and requirements in an advanced working environment; encourage units to expand training for female workers on knowledge related to health, life, etc.
