Dak Lak: Career guidance for students after junior high school

Graduating from junior high school is a turning point, starting the journey to shape each student's future. At this important time, access to accurate and timely career information is extremely necessary.

In reality, the "turns" after junior high school are increasingly diverse: from the traditional educational path to high school to highly applicable options at the Center for Vocational Education - Continuing Education (GDNN-GDTX); vocational training combined with cultural studies at secondary schools, colleges, or even starting a business. Although this rich choice opens up many opportunities, it puts students - who are at the age of forming awareness and ambition - in a matrix of information and pressure for their upcoming direction. They have to face not only their own interests and abilities but also family expectations, social trends and vague career prospects.

It is this complexity and information gap that makes the role of consulting and guidance so urgent.

Recognizing this need for information, the series of "Admission Counseling and Career Introduction Days for High School Students in 2025" recently organized by the Department of Education and Training (DET) of Dak Lak is a strategic initiative to narrow the information gap, an essential bridge between the policies of the education sector, the training capacity of vocational training institutions and the practical needs of students and parents.

The gathering of a large number of students, parents, teachers and representatives of training institutions at 15 locations across the province created a space for open and direct dialogue. Here, important information about grade 10 enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year, vocational training models combined with culture, support policies... was systematically conveyed, resolving deep concerns.

The questions raised at the fairs: How to choose the right major? Does vocational training have a future? What are the specific support policies? How to "convince" the family? - clearly reflect the thoughts and desire for authentic information of this age group.

In particular, the fact that children boldly asked about how to communicate with their families shows the need for a common information platform to create consensus within the family.

When the whole family is based on a common foundation of information and understanding, the final decision will become clearer and receive a higher consensus - that is the meaning of the spirit of "understanding to accompany".

Career orientation after secondary school is a complex problem. The key lies in providing complete, accurate and timely information. This not only helps students and parents to resolve their concerns but also lays the foundation for wise decisions, contributing to creating a more secure future for the younger generation and contributing to the sustainable development of the locality.
