Hanoi: Admission rate to grade 10 of public high schools increased by nearly 3% compared to last year.

On April 11, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced the enrollment quota for grade 10 high school for the 2025-2026 school year for 122 public and autonomous public high schools. The total quota assigned to 122 schools is 1,795 classes with 79,740 students, an increase of nearly 3% compared to last year.

Of which, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training assigned 119 public high schools with 1,763 classes and 78,400 students, divided into: 4 specialized schools (78 classes and 2,730 students); 115 public schools (1,685 classes and 75,670 students). Three autonomous public high schools with 32 classes and 1,340 students.

Among 119 public schools, Viet Duc High School (Hoan Kiem district) was assigned the highest enrollment target with 21 classes and 945 students (15 English classes, 1 German class, 1 French intensive class, 2 French bilingual classes, 2 Japanese first foreign language classes).

Grade 10 enrollment quotas of public high schools in Hanoi for the 2025-2026 school year

4 specialized schools are assigned the following enrollment targets: Hanoi - Amsterdam enrolls 24 classes with 840 students for 13 specialized subjects (2 Math classes, 2 IT classes, 2 Physics classes, 2 Chemistry classes, 2 Biology classes, 2 Literature classes, 2 History classes, 2 Geography classes, 2 English classes, 2 French classes, 2 Chinese classes, 1 Russian class, 1 Japanese class).

Chu Van An High School for the Gifted enrolls 19 classes with 665 students for 13 specialized subjects (1 class of Math, 1 class of IT, 1 class of Physics, 1 class of Chemistry, 2 classes of Biology, 2 classes of Literature, 2 classes of History, 2 classes of Geography, 2 classes of English, 1 class of Chinese, 2 classes of French, 1 class of Korean, 1 class of Japanese).

Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted enrolls 20 classes with 700 students for 11 specialized subjects (2 Math classes, 2 IT classes, 2 Physics classes, 2 Chemistry classes, 2 Biology classes, 2 Literature classes, 2 History classes, 2 Geography classes, 2 English classes, 1 French class, 1 Russian class).

Son Tay Specialized High School recruits 15 classes with 525 students for 9 specialized subjects (2 Math classes, 2 Physics classes, 1 Chemistry class, 1 IT class, 1 Biology class, 2 Literature classes, 2 History classes, 2 Geography classes, 2 English classes).

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training also assigned the enrollment target for grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year to 29 vocational education and continuing education centers in the city with a total target of 270 classes, with 12,080 students.

Vocational education and continuing education centers organize 10th grade admission based on the results of training and learning of students at the secondary school level (if a grade is repeated, the results of the re-study year of that grade will be used). Students wishing to apply for admission to vocational education and continuing education centers from April 21, 2025.

The Department of Education and Training requests that principals of public and autonomous public high schools be responsible for organizing enrollment according to assigned plan targets, in accordance with enrollment regulations and instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training and the Department of Education and Training.

With the city's attention, this school year, Hanoi will have a number of new high schools built in the districts of Cau Giay, Dong Anh, Thanh Tri, Long Bien put into operation. Therefore, the number of students admitted to public high schools in the 2025-2026 school year is about 3% higher than the previous year. This is the wish of parents and students; demonstrating the great efforts of the industry as well as the close direction of the leaders of the Hanoi People's Committee.

According to the plan, the 10th grade exam for public high schools in the 2025-2026 school year in Hanoi will take place on June 7 and 8 with 3 subjects: math, literature and foreign language. Candidates applying to specialized schools will take the specialized subject exam on June 9.
