Students throw away the worry of "unemployment"
Associate Professor, Dr. Luong Tu Quyen (Deputy Dean, Head of the Planning Department, Hanoi University of Architecture) said that society is currently paying special attention to planning work. Therefore, job opportunities for planning architects are increasing. Every year, the school provides society with hundreds of planning architects and landscape architects. Generations of graduates have made significant contributions to planning and management work at agencies from the central to local levels.
The Faculty of Urban and Rural Planning solemnly celebrated its 30th anniversary (1992 - 2022).
The Faculty is training 3 majors including Regional and Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, providing students with a diverse knowledge base in engineering, fine arts, economics, law, other scientific subjects... along with training values that meet the market's demand for quality human resources.
At the Faculty of Planning, students are “free” to participate in scientific research, in-depth research on the profession, and career orientation. In the course projects, students are able to design architectural works themselves, then small architectural complexes, the level of difficulty and complexity in the design will gradually increase.
The system of course projects is organized and arranged from small to large, from simple to complex, helping students accumulate specialized knowledge and solve many problems, from designing small architectural complexes, housing units, to territorial planning.
A group of students from the Faculty of Planning and their instructor won the prize in the field of "sustainable construction" at the Insee Prize 2022 competition with a model of a common playground in the Van Quan urban area (Ha Dong District, Hanoi).
The Faculty is always proud to be the leading training institution for Architects and Urban Planners in the country, the first and only institution to professionally train in the field of Regional and Urban Planning. Currently, the Faculty has 50 staff and lecturers, including 2 associate professors, 12 doctors and 34 masters.
Many domestic and foreign experts also participate in teaching, experts from the National Institute of Urban and Rural Planning and the Hanoi Institute of Construction Planning, the Vietnam Urban Development Planning Association, the Vietnam Association of Architects, and consulting agencies inside and outside the School. The number of Planning Architects trained by the School is from 60-80% of the total number of Planning Architects graduating each year.
Not only that, the lecturers in the department are always proactive in studying and researching to improve their qualifications, have compiled many teaching materials, and presided over many ministerial and school-level topics. Students of the Department of Planning continuously win high awards such as: Green Architecture Award, Low Carbon Award, Loa Thanh Award, Urban Development Planning Association Award for excellent graduation projects.
Planning students confidently approach businesses
After 5 years of hard work, in addition to the knowledge in the classroom, students of the Faculty of Planning are constantly proactive in learning and approaching businesses in real work. Every year, students participate in many trips related to the training majors of the faculty.
Through this, students can experience vivid practical experiences, in addition to lectures from teachers in class, shortening the gap between theory and practice, cultivating other necessary skills such as teamwork, presentation, debate... which are useful for their future careers.
Second-year students of the Faculty of Planning visited some typical planning projects in Quang Ninh province such as: Bai Chay Beach, SunWorld Ha Long Complex, Carnaval Plaza, Sun Premier Village Ha Long Bay and Ha Long International Passenger Port.
Visiting and experiencing real projects is a valuable opportunity for you to see firsthand the development of design industries, as well as new materials and spaces created by human hands.
Expand knowledge from design experts on combining space, color, sound, light... to create spatial wholes that are characteristic of the region. At the end of the trip, students confidently demonstrate their abilities, analyze the strengths and weaknesses of spaces and buildings, and then propose solutions to overcome them.
The teaching staff of koa in particular, and of Hanoi University of Architecture in general, are always enthusiastic and inspiring, combined with a dynamic learning environment, experiencing many competitions, academic, cultural, artistic, and sports playgrounds, etc., helping students practice moral qualities, good work attitudes, soft skills such as presentation, debate, teamwork, and information technology skills.
In the 2023 university admission season, the Faculty of Planning expanded its enrollment scale, not only including candidates from group V00 as before, but also expanding the enrollment to groups V01 and V02, combined with aptitude test scores. This not only contributes to diversifying training professions but also continues to affirm its position as the cradle of training urban architects in the country, providing high-quality human resources according to social needs, meeting the practical requirements of the economy.
