Due to administrative boundary rearrangement, workers in some localities will enjoy a higher than average minimum wage increase.
According to the proposal of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs submitted to the Government, from July 1, 2024, the regional minimum wage is expected to increase by an average of 6%, equivalent to an increase from VND 200,000 to VND 280,000/month.
Specifically, region I increased from 4,680,000 VND/month to 4,960,000 VND/month (an increase of 280,000 VND).
Region II increased from VND 4,160,000/month to VND 4,410,000 million/month (increased by VND 250,000).
Region III increased from 3,640,000 VND/month to 3,860,000 VND/month (increase of 220,000 VND).
Region IV increased from 3,250,000 VND/month to 3,450,000 VND/month (increase of 200,000 VND).
Regarding minimum wage/hour, region I is 23,800 VND/hour, region II is 21,200 VND/hour, region III is 18,600 VND/hour, region IV is 16,600 VND/hour.
Also according to the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the current minimum wage is determined by region and linked to the administrative boundaries at the district level. However, up to now, some areas applying the minimum wage are no longer suitable due to changes in administrative boundaries (renaming, new establishment, merger, dissolution) after reorganization according to Resolutions of the National Assembly Standing Committee; or changes in infrastructure conditions, labor market, investment attraction policies, etc.
Therefore, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs proposed to adjust from region II to region I for the following localities: Hai Duong city (Hai Duong province); Quang Yen town, Dong Trieu town, Uong Bi city, Mong Cai city (Quang Ninh province); Thong Nhat district (Dong Nai province); Tan An city, Duc Hoa district, Ben Luc district, Can Giuoc district (Long An province).
With the adjustment from region II to region I, the regional minimum wage for workers in these localities will increase from VND 4,160,000/month to VND 4,960,000 million/month (an increase of VND 800,000, equivalent to 19.23%).
For Bac Giang city, Viet Yen town, Yen Dung district (Bac Giang province); Chi Linh city, Kinh Mon town, Cam Giang, Binh Giang, Tu Ky, Gia Loc, Nam Sach, Kim Thanh districts (Hai Duong province); Thai Binh city (Thai Binh province); Thanh Hoa city, Sam Son city, Nghi Son town, Bim Son town (Thanh Hoa province); Tan Phu district, Cam My district (Dong Nai province); Ninh Hoa town (Khanh Hoa province); Soc Trang city (Soc Trang province); Kien Tuong town (Long An province) will be adjusted from region III to region II. Correspondingly, the regional minimum wage will increase from VND 3,640,000/month to VND 4,410,000/month, an increase of VND 770,000/month, equivalent to 21.15%.
In addition, Ninh Giang, Thanh Mien, Thanh Ha districts (Hai Duong province); Thai Thuy, Tien Hai districts (Thai Binh province); Trieu Son, Tho Xuan, Yen Dinh, Vinh Loc, Thieu Hoa, Ha Trung, Hau Loc, Nga Son, Hoang Hoa, Nong Cong districts (Thanh Hoa province); Ninh Phuoc district (Ninh Thuan province) will be adjusted from region IV to region III. The minimum wage of workers will increase from VND 3,250,000/month to VND 3,640,000/month, an increase of VND 610,000/month, equivalent to 18.77%.
