This afternoon, January 12, in Hanoi, the Central Steering Committee for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide held its second national online meeting at all four levels. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the meeting.
Attending the meeting at Binh Thuan bridge were comrades: Nguyen Hoai Anh - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Steering Committee for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the province; Dang Hong Sy - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, Deputy Head of the Committee; Doan Anh Dung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Standing Deputy Head of the Committee; Nguyen Minh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Committee; representatives of leaders of a number of departments, branches and sectors of the province.
According to the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, along with the Central Steering Committee being strengthened; currently, 58/63 localities have decided to establish and strengthen provincial Steering Committees. 5/63 localities, namely Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, have not established a Steering Committee because the localities no longer have temporary or dilapidated houses. 474 districts have established district-level Steering Committees; 6,054 communes have established commune-level Steering Committees. Ministries, branches and localities organize the implementation of tasks and contents according to the direction of the Prime Minister and Head of the Steering Committee.
Up to now, 20 provinces and cities have set a target of completing the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses earlier than required, before and in the third quarter of 2025; 13 localities have issued decisions approving the need to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the area. According to the updated results of 42 localities on the reporting software, as of January 12, 2025, 88,488 temporary and dilapidated houses have been supported to eliminate, of which: 48,989 houses have been inaugurated and 35,899 new houses have been started. Specifically, housing support for people with revolutionary contributions is 5,196 houses; housing support under the two national target programs is 50,909 houses; especially housing support under the Program to launch the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses is 28,783 houses.
Through the Launch Program, up to now, 12 localities have received support from 12 units with a total budget of 1,370 billion VND. As of January 2, 2025, the Central "For the Poor" Fund has received over 72 billion VND in support for eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses...
Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that at the first meeting held 2 months ago, the Steering Committee agreed on the goals, viewpoints, orientations, methods, approaches and assigned specific tasks to members of the Steering Committee and ministries, agencies and localities. Immediately afterwards, the Prime Minister directed the issuance of Conclusion Notice No. 523 dated November 16, 2024, and at the same time issued Official Dispatch No. 117 dated November 18, 2024, requesting Ministers, Heads of agencies, Chairmen of People's Committees of localities to focus on drastic implementation of solutions to promote the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide.
The Prime Minister emphasized that 2025 is of special significance, a year of acceleration and breakthrough to reach the finish line, successfully implementing the 5-year socio-economic development plan 2021-2025; at the same time, it is a year of many important events of the country, the successful implementation of the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025 brings many important meanings to realize the Party's policies and guidelines; demonstrates the good nature of our regime: bringing a prosperous and happy life to the people; not sacrificing progress, fairness, and the environment to pursue pure economic growth, "leaving no one behind"; demonstrating the good tradition of our nation: "the whole leaf covers the torn leaf, the less torn leaf covers the more torn leaf", "national love, compatriotism".
At the same time, it demonstrates the high determination, great efforts, drastic and creative actions of ministries, branches and localities in mobilizing resources and organizing the implementation of the Program. Thanks to that, since the first meeting, the whole country has completed and handed over more than 44,000 houses and is building 34,200 houses. From now until the end of the year, there are about 240,000 houses to be completed, while the implementation time is very urgent, only about 350 days left. Therefore, it is necessary to focus on implementing the peak period of 350 days and nights to successfully implement the Program in 2025.
The Prime Minister suggested that the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and Vietnam Television have a weekly countdown program to inform the entire population every Sunday morning about the results of the program implementation, on that basis, commend provinces that have done well, and urge and remind provinces that have not done well...
