Speaking at the conference, Dong Thap Provincial Party Secretary Le Quoc Phong emphasized: With 15 consecutive years in the leading group nationwide in terms of Provincial Competitiveness Index PCI, Dong Thap is confident that it is a locality with an ideal investment environment for Japanese enterprises to prioritize when deciding to invest in Vietnam.
In terms of potential and strengths, the province has an area of over 3,380km2 , focusing on agricultural production, not only rice and seafood with output ranked among the top in the country, but also many famous fruit trees, which can boost exports to Japan such as: Cao Lanh mango, Chau Thanh longan, some citrus trees... Sa Dec flower village supplies over 12 million ornamental flower products each year.
“We focus on calling for cooperation and investment in developing quality and diverse plant varieties; calling for investment and developing the processing industry, promoting the agricultural value chain, especially value chains with high technology content, in key product groups of Dong Thap including rice, mango, tra fish, lotus, and ornamental flowers,” said the Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee.
According to Dong Thap Provincial Party Secretary Le Quoc Phong, the province has more than 1.6 million people, with an abundant source of young labor... Of which, more than 40% have been trained, along with over 10,000 workers who have been and are working abroad. Abundant human resources with increasingly good quality are Dong Thap's advantages for businesses investing in the province or recruiting workers to work in Japan.
The Secretary of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee said that the locality has prepared the most favorable conditions for enterprises to quickly implement projects with many industrial parks and clusters in the province such as: Tan Kieu, Tan Lap, Truong Xuan, Quang Khanh, Dong Thap Provincial Border Gate Economic Zone, with 2 international border gates Thuong Phuoc and Dinh Ba having been completely built, ready for project implementation.
In particular, “The An Huu - Cao Lanh Expressway is speeding up construction progress, when put into use it will shorten the travel time from Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Thap to about 2 hours. The waterway transport system, with 2 ports located on the banks of the Tien River, helps transport goods conveniently to the East Sea and Cambodia. Along with that are preferential policies and quick administrative procedures, opening the door to welcome investors, especially Japanese investors”, said Secretary Le Quoc Phong.

At the conference, Japanese investors were interested in investing in the fields of: Healthcare, education, agriculture, clean energy. The representative of the Japanese enterprise, Mr. Otsuka Kellchi, Director of Taiyo Nouen Company, expressed his interest in investing in the agricultural sector, especially organic agriculture in Dong Thap. In particular, he was very impressed with the mango industry in Dong Thap, especially the processing of off-season mangoes, which produce fruit all year round. "Hope to cooperate with Dong Thap province in the near future," Mr. Otsuka Kellchi expressed.
Japanese Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Ono Masuo said: In the near future, the completion of the road and waterway infrastructure system will lead to investment opportunities in Dong Thap province in many different fields such as agricultural processing, logistics, and tourism.
“I hope that, through today's conference, the potential and opportunities of Dong Thap province will be more widely known to Japanese enterprises, thereby contributing to strengthening economic relations and exchanges between Japan and Dong Thap,” Mr. Ono Masuo expected.

However, “in order to simplify administrative procedures, we propose that Dong Thap province consider and establish a Japan Desk at the provincial People's Committee. This will not only help Japanese enterprises consider their investment intentions in Dong Thap, but also help Dong Thap provincial People's Committee grasp information comprehensively, without being scattered about the investment situation of Japanese enterprises when going through each department, branch, and sector of the province,” Ono Masuo, Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City, suggested.
