Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company (BSR) said that Dung Quat Oil Refinery will temporarily suspend operations for 48 days, from March 15 to May 1, 2024, to perform the fifth general maintenance.
To ensure the supply of gasoline for the market, on March 26, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the Domestic Market Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that the ministry has requested Dung Quat Oil Refinery to quickly carry out maintenance of the factory, stabilize production activities to supply gasoline to customers and the market as soon as possible.
At the same time, strictly implement the production plan registered with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, proactively supply gasoline and oil, and reserve gasoline and oil according to regulations to ensure the supply of gasoline and oil to key gasoline and oil traders according to the output and time signed between the parties.
While Dung Quat Oil Refinery is temporarily shut down for maintenance, Nghi Son Oil Refinery will increase its operating capacity to meet the market's gasoline supply.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters on March 25, Mr. Susumu Nibuya - Vice President of Idemitsu Kosan Company (Japan), a Japanese investor contributing 35% of capital to Nghi Son Oil Refinery - said: "Last year, we completed the maintenance. This helps increase the operating efficiency and output of the factory. According to the company's calculations and estimates, in 2024, the factory will double its productivity, ensuring the supply of gasoline and oil to the market."
To ensure the continuity of petroleum supply to the domestic market and ensure national energy security, the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) has directed units related to the petroleum supply chain within the group to ensure the supply of petroleum as well as its distribution to the market in a smooth manner.
According to BSR, when the 5th general maintenance shutdown takes place, Dung Quat Oil Refinery will have about 101,000 tons of crude oil in stock (20% of crude oil tank capacity). By the end of March 2024, Dung Quat Oil Refinery will import crude oil after the maintenance of the single-point oil-dumping buoy has been completed.
By mid-April 2024, when Dung Quat Oil Refinery restarts the crude oil distillation workshop, the oil storage capacity will reach about 80% and this is an effort to prepare the factory for continuous operation afterwards.
