Nghe An issues telegram to respond to tropical depression that is likely to strengthen into a storm

On September 18, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Disaster Prevention signed Official Dispatch No. 37 requesting the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Disaster Prevention, Commanders of the Provincial Military Command, Provincial Border Guard Command; Director of the Provincial Police; Directors of departments; Heads of provincial-level departments, branches and organizations; Chairmen of the People's Committees of districts, cities and towns; Director of the North Central Hydro-meteorological Station; Chairmen and Directors of irrigation and hydropower companies in the province to proactively respond to the tropical depression that is likely to strengthen into a storm.

According to the bulletin of the North Central Hydrometeorological Station, at 4:00 a.m. on September 18, the center of the tropical depression was at about 16.7 degrees North latitude; 113.8 degrees East longitude, about 250 km east of Hoang Sa archipelago. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is level 7, gusting to level 9; moving mainly in the West direction at a speed of about 25 km/h. It is forecasted that in the next 24 to 48 hours, the tropical depression is likely to strengthen into a storm, with an intensity of level 8-9, gusting to level 10-11. The storm may directly affect the sea and mainland of our country, causing strong gusts and heavy rain in the Central Central and North Central regions in the coming days.

The development of this tropical depression is still very complicated (it is forecasted that the wind level, speed and direction of movement may change). To proactively respond to the tropical depression that is likely to strengthen into a storm, especially the risk of heavy rain, flooding, landslides, flash floods that may occur, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Disaster Prevention and Control requested the North Central Hydrometeorological Station to continue to closely monitor, forecast, and provide complete and timely information on the development of the tropical depression to the authorities and people to proactively deploy response work according to regulations.

Directors of Departments; Heads of provincial-level departments, branches and organizations; Chairmen of People's Committees of districts, cities and towns and relevant agencies and units, according to their assigned functions and tasks, shall organize regular monitoring and updating of information on developments of tropical depressions, storms and floods to proactively direct the implementation of response work appropriate to natural disaster developments that may affect the management scope of the sector and locality. In particular, focus on immediately implementing measures to ensure safety for ships, vehicles and activities at sea and along the coast. Review and complete plans and scenarios to respond to tropical depressions, storms, floods, landslides, flash floods, focusing on ensuring safety of people's lives and minimizing property damage; operate hydroelectric and irrigation dams scientifically and safely. Proactively arrange forces, materials and vehicles, especially in key areas to be ready to respond to tropical depressions, storms and floods; rescue when required

Provincial Radio and Television Station, Nghe An Newspaper, and press agencies increase broadcasting time and reporting so that people can grasp information about developments of tropical depressions, storms, floods, and instructions from competent authorities to know how to respond when natural disasters occur, especially landslides, flash floods, and inundations, to limit damage.

The Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Disaster Prevention and Control organizes a duty to closely monitor the situation, proactively directs and urges localities to deploy response work in accordance with actual natural disaster developments; promptly summarizes damage, reports, and proposes the Provincial People's Committee to direct and handle issues beyond its authority.
