On March 21, AVP reported that in the Kharkov region, the Vampire multiple launch rocket system, used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to bombard Belgorod, was destroyed.
The system reportedly launched an attack and then moved away from its position, but was later detected by the Russian military and launched an attack. The attack was carried out at around 12:30 (Moscow time) in a forest area between the settlements of Verkhnyaya Pisarevka and Losevka, AVP reported. The attack occurred after Russian air defenses shot down 13 missiles launched from the Vampire system. These 13 missiles were intercepted by the Russian military at 11:30 (Moscow time) the same day.
The Vampire system is a modified version of the Soviet BM-21 Grad, produced in the Czech Republic and based on the Tatra chassis. It is known that the Czech Republic has supplied Ukraine with a number of such systems, the 61st and 110th Mechanized Brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are using these systems.
Previously, images of an M1A1 Abrams tank destroyed in the Northern Military District were also made public. Unique footage appeared in the media showing the moment the US-made M1A1 Abrams tank used by Ukraine was destroyed in the area of a special military operation.
According to AVP, the tank was destroyed in February, but images of the incident have only now been made public. This is the first US-made M1A1 Abrams tank to be destroyed in Ukraine. The video shows the Abrams tank moving along a rural road when it is attacked. An attacking drone crashes into the tank's turret and immediately sets it on fire.
The attack occurred in the vicinity of Avdeevka and was the result of the actions of a unit of attack drones. It should be noted that after this event, three more American tanks were destroyed.
