STO - Responding to the movement "Elderly people do good business", many members of the elderly association in My Tu district (Soc Trang) have increased production, actively maintained and developed business activities, thereby creating a stable life, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality.

At the age of 70, Mr. Nguyen Minh Chien in Huynh Huu Nghia town, My Tu district still manages all buying and selling activities at his family's pesticide and rice seed store. Mr. Chien said that he only started his business when he was over 40 years old because he realized that most of the local people were farmers, so he boldly opened a pesticide and rice seed store. Thanks to quality products, openness to customers, and enthusiastic support for farmers, over the past 30 years, his family's business has always developed steadily. Currently, the store's annual revenue is about 5 billion VND. From his experience in buying and selling, Mr. Chien also guided his 2 children to open businesses selling rice, animal feed, poultry, etc.

When mentioning the example of the elderly who are good at business in Huynh Huu Nghia town, we must also mention Mr. Mach Sang (62 years old). Following the family's business tradition, in 1996, Mr. Mach Sang opened a pesticide store with an area of ​​only 15 square meters . For more than 27 years, he has always maintained the motto "must have ethics and morality" in doing business, so Mr. Mach Sang's store is always crowded with customers, in addition to farmers in the area, there are also farmers from other localities who come to support.

Not only are they good at economics, in their daily lives, Mr. Mach Sang and Mr. Nguyen Minh Chien are also typical examples, active in social security work in the locality, regularly contributing to movements launched by the government and organizations, supporting and building local public works, supporting the hospital's charity kitchen...

According to the Elderly Association of My Tu district, the movement "Elderly people doing good business" has created motivation for members to promote the potential and advantages of the locality in economic development. In addition to good business models, many members have knowledge, experience, and know how to apply scientific and technological advances in production, achieving high economic efficiency. Typical examples include Mr. Thach Dan (60 years old) in Thuan Hung commune, who has succeeded with the model of growing rice combined with raising dairy cows, earning billions of dong each year, while creating regular jobs for many local people; or Mr. Nguyen Van Cao (78 years old), who specializes in processing wooden furniture for interior decoration in Huynh Huu Nghia town, with an annual income of more than 1 billion dong; Mr. Vo Van Thuy in My Phuoc commune has developed a model of raising soft-shell turtles, growing rice and fruit trees, contributing to creating jobs for dozens of local workers. In the field of trade and services, many elderly members have effective production and business establishments, earning an annual profit of more than 1 billion VND, creating jobs for hundreds of local workers, such as Mr. Truong Ky Bac (73 years old) in Hung Phu commune, trading in gasoline, Mr. Le Van Dien (66 years old) in Huynh Huu Nghia town, trading in agricultural materials...

Currently, My Tu district has 13,219 elderly people, of which 7,028 are from 60 to 69 years old, directly or indirectly working and doing business. In the spirit of being healthy and having conditions, members directly participate in production, business, and developing professions to increase family income, while at the same time guiding their children and grandchildren to develop the family economy and stabilize their lives.

Comrade Le Hoang Diet - Head of the Representative Board of the Elderly Association of My Tu district shared that in implementing the movement "Elderly people doing good business", many members actively contributed manpower and money, donated land to build public welfare works, participated in social charity activities, and spread the spirit of mutual love to the people. To promote the movement, in the coming time, the elderly associations at all levels of the district will continue to propagate and disseminate economic experiences, commend, reward, and replicate models and typical examples of elderly people doing good business. In addition, members need to further promote the tradition of solidarity, support each other in life, in production and business activities, and get rich together legitimately. Thereby, contributing to hunger eradication and poverty reduction, and developing the local economy.
