On the afternoon of August 2 (local time), the Washington DC police force (USA) blocked off and searched the US Senate building to investigate the possibility of a gunman appearing there.
The incident occurred at 2:26 p.m. on August 2, or about 1:45 a.m. on August 3 (Vietnam time). Police sealed off and searched the entire building after receiving a 911 emergency call. Police also asked people to stay away from the Senate building to facilitate the investigation. Police later announced that there was no threat at 4:04 p.m. the same day.

Washington DC Police Chief Thomas Manger told reporters that the 911 call about a shooter may have been a false alarm.
The US Senate is currently on summer recess and most lawmakers are out of Washington.
