US businesses are eager and ready to invest and expand investment in Vietnam in the fields of green transformation, technology, innovation, digital economy, AI, e-commerce, and sustainable development.

On the afternoon of March 19, in Hanoi, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh received a delegation of businesses from the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) led by President and CEO of USABC Ted Osius, former US Ambassador to Vietnam.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh welcomed the USABC business delegation to visit and work in Vietnam on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and the 2nd anniversary of upgrading relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; hoping that the visit will contribute to promoting the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, bringing practical benefits to the people and business communities of the two countries.

The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly expressed his delight at the positive development of Vietnam-US relations, in which economic and trade relations are an important pillar. The trade turnover between the two countries reached over 100 billion USD for the third consecutive year. Vietnam has also risen to become the 8th largest trade partner of the United States...

The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly affirmed that the comprehensive strategic partnership with the United States holds a very important position in socio-economic development, investment-trade, science-technology, innovation and digital transformation.

Vietnam is currently focusing on implementing many solutions to create strategic breakthroughs in the fields of institutions; infrastructure; human resources; science and technology development, innovation, and national digital transformation, in order to create a premise to bring the country into a new era, an era of national growth.

In recent years, with the spirit of innovation, the National Assembly and the Government have actively issued and amended many legal documents to promptly remove difficulties and obstacles, free up resources, and focus on serving the tasks of socio-economic development and improving people's lives, focusing on perfecting the legal framework for investment activities.

Vietnam is actively innovating thinking and methods of legislative work towards building and promulgating concise and clear laws; enhancing decentralization, delegation of power, and administrative reform; strongly shifting from management-oriented laws to harmoniously combining effective management with development creation, and encouraging innovation.

Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh said that Vietnam is currently facing a number of difficulties and challenges from unpredictable and complicated developments in the world situation, which could have a major impact on the domestic economy, creating great pressure on Vietnamese enterprises as well as FDI enterprises in Vietnam.

In that context, Vietnam wishes to continue to maintain a stable cooperative relationship with the United States and is making efforts to proactively adapt to policy changes to protect the domestic economy and maintain sustainable economic growth.

Appreciating the role and practical contributions of the US business community in general and USABC businesses in particular in promoting and enhancing Vietnam-US cooperation, investment and business, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly always pays attention to and closely follows issues related to the investment and business environment; economic development, creating policies to support businesses, especially foreign businesses, including investors from the United States.

Along with resources from the state budget, Vietnam hopes to mobilize resources from foreign enterprises and investors, including USABC member enterprises, to participate in Vietnam's strategy of rapid and sustainable economic development in the coming years.

Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh affirmed that the National Assembly and its agencies are always ready to listen to and accompany the USABC and the US business community to promptly remove obstacles and difficulties in terms of institutions, policies and laws, creating favorable conditions for investment and business activities of US enterprises in Vietnam in the coming time.

Thanking the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly for taking the time to meet him, President and CEO of the US-ASEAN Business Council Ted Osius and representatives of US businesses expressed their impression of Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements and highly appreciated Vietnam's investment and business environment in recent years.

Representatives of US businesses hope that the Vietnamese National Assembly and Government will continue to reform administrative procedures, optimize the business environment, and support and create more favorable conditions for foreign businesses, including US businesses.

Also on the afternoon of March 19, the Central Policy and Strategy Committee worked with the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) business delegation, including leaders of nearly 60 US businesses.

Attending the meeting were Deputy Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee Thai Thanh Quy; leaders and representatives of a number of central ministries, departments and branches.

Thai Thanh Quy, Deputy Head of the Central Committee for Policy and Strategy, expressed his pleasure in receiving the US-ASEAN Business Council delegation on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and the 2nd anniversary of upgrading relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; highly appreciated the role of USABC in its efforts to support the US business community to overcome challenges, continue to promote trade and investment relations with Vietnam, contributing to the increasingly good development of the Vietnam-US relationship.

Mr. Thai Thanh Quy emphasized the bilateral trade and investment relations between Vietnam and the United States, with Vietnam becoming the 8th largest trade partner of the United States; at the same time, he affirmed the consistent policy of the Party and State of Vietnam to always consider the United States as a leading important partner.

On behalf of the delegation, Mr. Ted Osius, President and CEO of the US-ASEAN Business Council, expressed his honor to work with the Central Policy and Strategy Committee; emphasizing that the two countries have achieved many achievements in trade, investment, culture and other fields, with very important contributions from US businesses.

At the meeting, the two sides exchanged opinions, recommendations and proposals on investment and business cooperation between the two countries, especially in areas that US businesses are interested in such as developing projects on renewable energy, aviation, artificial intelligence, healthcare, semiconductor industry, manufacturing supply chain development, financial services, digital economy development, circular economy, etc.

Enterprises hope to receive support and increase cooperation with Vietnamese agencies in general and the Central Policy and Strategy Committee in particular in creating a favorable business environment for US enterprises to invest in Vietnam.

Representatives of US businesses expressed their commitment to continue to accompany and closely coordinate with Vietnam, actively promoting the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in general and economic-trade-investment cooperation between the US and Vietnam in particular to develop more deeply, effectively, substantially, in accordance with the wishes and interests of both sides.

Deputy Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee Thai Thanh Quy acknowledged and highly appreciated the opinions of US businesses, which provided many valuable recommendations and policy advice for Vietnam, especially opinions related to issues of breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, national digital transformation and energy development.

Mr. Thai Thanh Quy emphasized that Vietnam welcomes, encourages and creates favorable conditions for US businesses to invest and cooperate in the fields of science and technology development, digital transformation, as well as developing Vietnam's energy industry in an effective and sustainable direction.

Mr. Thai Thanh Quy affirmed that the Central Policy and Strategy Committee strongly supports the activities of USABC, especially supporting US businesses to operate effectively in Vietnam.

The Committee will coordinate with relevant agencies to research, advise and propose solutions to remove obstacles; continue to perfect the policy framework, improve the investment environment to become more stable and favorable for businesses to continue operating and developing long-term in Vietnam, especially in areas where the US has strengths and Vietnam has demand.

Mr. Thai Thanh Quy also suggested that USABC further strengthen its role as a bridge to effectively and practically promote the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and the United States, contribute recommendations to the Central Policy and Strategy Committee on major policies and guidelines in the socio-economic field to improve Vietnam's investment and business environment; strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese enterprises to promote investment cooperation in Vietnam's priority areas and the strengths of US enterprises./.
