The Ministry of Transport has just sent a document requesting the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board to continue to ensure the quality and progress of the North-South Expressway project, Van Ninh - Cam Lo section.

Recognizing and praising the proactive and positive spirit of the project management board and the construction contractor who have coordinated with local agencies, departments and branches to implement site clearance work in the past time, the Ministry of Transport said that, up to now, the project has received the handover of nearly 64km of site, reaching more than 97%, with the remaining 1.7km of site clearance being carried out by the locality.
"The organization of construction work at the construction site is basically scientific and methodical, and construction is completed as it progresses.
Construction output reached 46.86% of the contract value, meeting the contract schedule. However, the detailed progress of some units is still slow," the Ministry of Transport assessed.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the biggest difficulty now is that more than 1.7km of land has not been handed over. Of which, Quang Binh still has more than 0.7km, Quang Tri still has more than 1km. This greatly affects the construction progress of some bridges and 5 intersections that must be restored to the Ho Chi Minh road.
In addition, the area is preparing for the rainy season, and road embankment work may be affected if not completed by August 2024.
Striving to complete the project before June 30, 2025, the Ministry of Transport requires the Project Management Board to direct units to focus highly, not to be negligent, to closely inspect and monitor the quality, construction progress, labor safety, environmental sanitation, and take advantage of favorable weather to speed up the construction of roadbeds, foundations, and drainage works before the 2024 storm season.
The Ministry of Transport requires investors and contractors to study solutions to implement construction items that are not affected by the construction sites of the overpass across National Highway 9D, the overpass across National Highway 9A in the North (Tam Hiep Bridge), the overpass across National Highway 9A and 5 intersections that must be restored to Ho Chi Minh Road.
"The investor must coordinate with localities to resolve land clearance problems at the repatriated road sections. Construction will be carried out as the land clearance becomes available, striving to complete and clear all 5 repatriated road locations before October 2024 to implement the main route sections that overlap or intersect with Ho Chi Minh Road.
For ongoing construction projects, the project management board focuses on urging contractors to mobilize machinery and equipment, work overtime, and increase shifts to complete them.
The North-South Expressway, Cam Lo - Van Ninh section, is 65.5km long, passing through two provinces: Quang Binh (nearly 33km), Quang Tri (more than 32.5km). The project consists of two packages with a total investment of VND9,900 billion.
