Appearance of the 9,700 billion VND expressway through Ha Tinh, nearing completion

Ham Nghi - Vung Ang Expressway is one of three component projects of the North - South Expressway, the eastern branch, through Ha Tinh. The project passes through three districts: Thach Ha, Cam Xuyen, Ky Anh (Ha Tinh province) with a total length of more than 54 km and a total investment of more than VND 9,700 billion. The starting point of the project section in Thach Xuan commune (Thach Ha) connects with the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi component project and the end point at the intersection of National Highway 12C, in Ky Tan commune (Ky Anh district) connects with the Vung Ang - Bung component project.

Determining the finish line on April 30, after 2 years of construction, the construction units have accelerated the progress to exceed the contract value by 6 months.

In phase 1, the highway will have 4 lanes, with emergency stops every 4-5km, and a design speed of 80-90km/h. In the completed phase, the road will have 6 lanes, 2 emergency lanes, and a speed of 120km/h.

Mr. Nguyen Khac Trung - Executive Director of the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang section project under the Thang Long Project Management Board ( Ministry of Transport - project investor) said that up to now, the progress of the entire route has reached more than 80%. "With the goal of shortening the progress by 6 months to put it into operation in April 2025, the contractors have arranged maximum human resources and machinery, dividing into "3 shifts, 4 teams" to work day and night", Mr. Trung said.

Currently, the entire route of more than 52km has basically been paved with R25 and C19 asphalt concrete layers and is waiting for the final C16 layer to be paved before installing the safety signs and barriers to hand over on schedule.

The projects of fencing, grass planting to reinforce the anti-slip slope, and residential roads on both sides of the highway are being carried out by the units.

Mr. Dang Dinh Duyen - Xuan Truong Construction Enterprise said that the unit participated in both packages 11-XL and 12-XL. For package 11-XL alone, the unit undertook the construction of 22.6 km, and has so far completed 2 layers of asphalt concrete on the entire route, with the final layer C16 remaining before handover. According to the plan, the project will be completed and handed over in December 2025. However, it will be completed by April 30, ensuring the main route is open to traffic. Other items will be handed over on time as prescribed.

The project unit has lowered the height of the hill, tens of meters high, passing through Cam Thinh commune (Cam Xuyen district), the road surface has been completed and workers are reinforcing the slope.

The remaining locations are graded with crushed stone and compacted before the asphalt layers are laid.

The expressway interchange at Km527+580 connecting to National Highway 1 via the connecting route in Cam Quan commune (Cam Xuyen district) is being accelerated by the project implementing unit.

Thanh Huy Group Joint Stock Company – the project implementation unit said that the intersection and the connecting road to National Highway 1 is 3.2km long. The unit is currently completing the foundation to make the surface foundation and asphalt pavement.

At the intersection at Km568+126, the expressway intersects with National Highway 12C in Ky Tan Commune (Ky Anh District) - the end point of the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressway, which has also been gradually completed. This is an important location to help people travel to Ky Anh town and the Vung Ang Economic Zone, which is nearly completed.

The North-South Expressway in the East section through Ha Tinh province has 3 component projects, including: Bai Vot - Ham Nghi, Ham Nghi - Vung Ang and Vung Ang - Bung (phase 2021 - 2025) with a total length of more than 102km through the area. According to the plan, by April 30, 2025, the main route of the project will be handed over and put into use.
