Deputy Director of Lang Son Department of Agriculture and Environment Dinh Thi Thu said that after Tet is the time when farmers start to restore their herds. However, the current weather has many disadvantages due to temperature changes and high humidity, which is a favorable environment for viruses and bacteria to develop.
In addition, the temperature difference leads to a decrease in livestock resistance, creating favorable conditions for pathogens to arise. Therefore, to ensure effective livestock repopulation, the Department has closely directed specialized agencies to focus on propaganda and technical training for livestock farmers on repopulation to ensure disease safety, focusing on developing livestock farming in the direction of biosafety.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lang Son has proactively distributed over 5,000 liters of disinfectant to districts and cities to serve the work of spraying disinfectants on livestock. The Agricultural Service Centers of districts and cities carry out disinfection spraying in areas at risk of epidemics such as markets and places where live livestock and poultry are gathered. The Department has instructed households and livestock farms to spray disinfectants and technical measures to limit and prevent the occurrence, outbreak and spread of diseases in livestock and poultry.
As one of the relatively large-scale pig farming households, before re-herding with more than 300 pigs, Ms. Trinh Thi Cuong (Chi Ma village, Yen Khoai commune, Loc Binh district) said that her family had cleaned the barns, feeding troughs, sprayed disinfectants and applied lime powder to disinfect. Every day, she checked and monitored the health of the pigs and provided them with enough drinking water, food, and nutrients to improve their resistance. According to the instructions, the family absolutely did not let strangers enter the farming area to limit the source of infection from outside, thanks to which, the pigs are currently growing well.
Regarding poultry repopulation, livestock households in the province have proactively cleaned their barns regularly, provided adequate nutrients and vitamins to improve poultry resistance; and fully vaccinated poultry when they are over 2 months old to improve the resistance of livestock.

According to statistics, currently, Lang Son province has over 4.7 million poultry of all kinds; 189,700 pigs; 28,236 cows,... the total livestock herd has increased compared to the same period last year. To ensure the safety and effectiveness of livestock re-herding, localities in the province have strengthened disease surveillance and mobilized livestock farmers to implement "5 no's" in disease prevention and control in livestock, raising livestock in a controlled manner, not mass farming.
In addition, units focused on implementing the month of disinfection and sterilization in the whole province in March; preparing vaccines and vaccinating against dangerous diseases in livestock. Since the beginning of the year, specialized agencies in Lang Son have vaccinated nearly 2,300 buffaloes and cows; 14,270 pigs; and more than 221,900 poultry. Thanks to that, up to now, livestock in the province has basically developed stably, without serious epidemics. Currently, districts and cities are continuing to deploy vaccination according to plan, while strengthening surveillance to promptly prevent and control epidemics.
