For many years, water for production and daily life of people and businesses in the two lower districts of the province has always been a concern, especially when the dry season begins, water shortages can occur. With efforts and determination, the difficulties in providing domestic water for Can Duoc and Can Giuoc districts have gradually been resolved. Many water supply works and projects have been invested and built to promptly supply water to the lower regions. However, the water shortage has not been completely resolved and the risk of domestic water shortages still exists every time the dry season begins.

According to Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dong Tam Group - Vo Quoc Thang, in the past time, the investment and operation process has always received active support from the provincial authorities, including the issue of clean water supply. Long An International Port operates in Tan Tap commune, Can Giuoc district, invested by the unit. Currently, the dry season has begun, the water flow to the port shows signs of weakening, not enough to serve production and daily life. In the coming time, the unit has orientations to expand production scale, increase investment attraction, and businesses operating in the area will also increase. The unit recommends that the locality have effective plans and solutions to ensure clean water sources, avoiding the situation of weak water and local water shortages affecting production and daily life activities in the area.

Regarding the issue of water supply, Chairman of Can Giuoc District People's Committee - Nguyen Anh Duc said: Currently, the district's demand for domestic water is about 40,000-50,000m3 /day and night, but it will increase in the dry season. Currently, the water supply in the area is basic but does not fully meet the needs of people and businesses, especially in the lower areas of the district. The district coordinates with existing water supply units to solve this problem. In addition, the district proactively works with the water supply unit of Ho Chi Minh City to supplement domestic water sources for the locality.
In Can Duoc district, the water supply issue is also proactively and jointly resolved by the locality. The district invests resources to upgrade the water supply system, serving daily life and production in the area. However, when the dry season comes, the water supply issue is also a concern for the locality.
Chairman of Can Duoc District People's Committee - Dao Huu Tan informed: Currently, the district has upgraded 2 transfer stations to ensure water supply and flow for the lower communes of the district. Some investors also participated in upgrading the pipeline to better serve the people's domestic water needs. In addition, the district reviewed and worked with the water supply unit to ensure a plan to upgrade the pipeline system to increase the water supply flow.
In case the water supply unit does not implement, the locality will have a plan to proactively invest in the pipeline system or call on units to participate in the implementation, ensuring a source of domestic water for the people. However, the biggest difficulty is the dependence on surface water sources, so the district proposes and recommends that the province provide timely direction and support so that the water supply unit can have a plan to increase capacity and flow, ensuring adequate domestic water supply for the people.
According to the leader of the Department of Construction, implementing the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department inspected and reviewed the situation of clean water shortage in localities in 2024. The results showed that Can Duoc and Can Giuoc districts lacked about 4,000m³/day and night, of which Can Duoc district lacked 722m³/day and night; Can Giuoc district lacked 3,200m³/day and night. The reason was that the demand for water increased suddenly during the drought and salinity season, while Nhi Thanh Water Plant could not increase its capacity in time.
To proactively solve this problem, Long An Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company has basically completed increasing the capacity of Tan An surface water plant cluster from 10,000m3 /day and night to 20,000m3 /day and night (expected to increase by 10,000m3/day and night in March 2025).
Biwase Long An Water Joint Stock Company is also completing the construction of Nhi Thanh Water Plant phase 3, increasing the capacity from 60,000m3 /day and night to 120,000m3 /day and night, expected to be completed and tested in June 2025.
In addition, the Company has invested in completing the My Le booster pump station ( 30,000m3 /day and night) to supply water to the lower districts of Can Duoc and Can Giuoc. At the same time, the investment has completed the upgrade of the D1200 raw water pipeline (section along Provincial Road 818), and is investing in upgrading the D1200 raw water pipeline (section along Ho Chi Minh - Trung Luong highway and section from Provincial Road 818 - Nhi Thanh Water Plant) and from Nhi Thanh Water Plant to Ben Luc town.
Thus, in March 2025, there will be an additional 10,000m3 /day and night from Long An Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company, contributing to stabilizing water supply. In June 2025, there will be an additional 60,000m3 /day and night (from Biwase Water Joint Stock Company), raising the total water output to 70,000m3 /day and night, stabilizing water supply in Tan An, Tan Tru, Ben Luc, Can Duoc, Can Giuoc areas, especially the lower areas of Can Giuoc and Can Duoc districts./.
