As a multinational business magazine with 70 years of presence in the market, Fortune regularly publishes lists of companies with the best revenue and profits in a fiscal year cycle. Recently, on June 18 in Singapore, Fortune magazine announced for the first time the Fortune Southeast Asia 500 ranking - the top 500 Southeast Asian companies with the best revenue in 2023. In addition to the revenue criteria, the organizers also particularly highlighted the growth stories and contributions of companies to the development of the regional economy.
The Fortune Southeast Asia 500 ranking includes 500 companies from 7 Southeast Asian countries, including Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, the Philippines and Cambodia. Of which, Vietnam owns 70 companies on the list, notably MobiFone Corporation with revenue of more than 1 billion USD (nearly 26,000 billion VND), reaching the 253rd position in the ranking.
According to Fortune magazine, the global economy in general and Southeast Asia in particular are facing many negative fluctuations, directly affecting the financial health of many businesses. Many large companies have had to close down after the Covid-19 pandemic and political tensions around the world. However, MobiFone has successfully completed its revenue target last year, reaching VND 1,958 billion in profit after tax, making positive contributions to the following sectors: education, tourism, retail, services... in the region.
In the context of a saturated telecommunications market, MobiFone Corporation has constantly strived to expand its business scale, bringing high-quality products and services to customers. In particular, MobiFone's "New Space" service has recorded many outstanding achievements, which is the right step to help the company create a competitive advantage in the market.
In 2023, MobiFone has gradually and successfully transformed itself from a telecommunications service provider to a digital service and information technology solution provider. The network operator focuses its resources on perfecting ecosystems in three key areas: Digital Government, Digital Society and Digital Economy, contributing to increasing labor market productivity and making significant contributions to the State Budget.
Not limited to Vietnam, MobiFone's digital solutions have also left many good impressions in foreign markets. Notable among them is the MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) platform chosen by the Vietnamese Government to be presented to the Lao Government during the visit of the Vietnamese Prime Minister to Laos to support Lao officials and people to get closer to digital transformation, acquire more specialized knowledge and skills. The MEET online meeting platform, in addition to meeting the needs of production and business enterprises, also used by the Central Propaganda Department at the National Conference to disseminate the results of the 8th Central Conference, 13th term, showing a remarkable development contributing to the country's digital transformation.
To achieve the above successes, MobiFone has applied advances in science and technology to innovate and develop over the past year. The Corporation has invested heavily in building data centers and developing digital infrastructure based on technologies such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), big data, etc. In particular, the MobiFone High-Tech Center project in Hanoi is expected to become MobiFone's largest centralized data center with a scale of 2,000 racks, meeting the needs of storing, managing and processing huge amounts of information in the digital environment.
In 2024, MobiFone plans to continue to promote and build on the achievements made in 2023. The network operator focuses on digital transformation, from telecommunications infrastructure to digital infrastructure, implementing spectrum auctions and commercializing 5G technology to bring the best experiences to customers, affirming its leading position in the national digital transformation.
