Mr Pence plans to campaign in all 99 counties in Iowa, while his campaign will do everything to put the former US vice president in a favorable position.
Mike Pence served for decades in the US House of Representatives and four years as governor of Indiana before serving as vice president under former President Donald Trump. Mike Pence has long been considered one of the most influential voices in the Republican Party.
When he enters the race for the White House, Mr. Pence will face many challenges in the Republican primary selection round with a series of formidable opponents. His broken relationship with former President Donald Trump after the Capitol Hill riot in January 2021 may also turn many people away from him.
Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie also announced his candidacy, bringing the total number of Republican candidates to over 10. The large number of candidates has many of Mr. Trump's opponents worried that the vote will be divided, leading to the former US president winning the Republican nomination.
