Dien Bien - These days, every afternoon thousands of people come to check-in with the cogon grass on Muong Thanh field, right next to Dien Bien Airport.
Every day, thousands of people, mostly young people in Dien Bien Phu City, come to check-in at the grass field in Muong Thanh field. Photo: Van Thanh Chuong The beauty of the cogon grass flowers in the afternoon sunlight makes many young people fascinated and come here more than once. There are also many people bringing children to take pictures, taking advantage of the beautiful moments when the grass has not yet withered. Many families hire professional photographers to get the best pictures. Beautiful photos of checking in with cogon grass shared on social networking sites have become a "hot trend" among young people in Dien Bien Phu City these days. Many young couples preparing to get married also do not miss the opportunity to take this rare beautiful photo set. This grass field is part of Dien Bien Airport (old). Since the renovation and upgrading project, the runway of Dien Bien Airport has been rotated at a fairly large angle, so the entire grass field of thousands of square meters is outside the airport area. An old runway of Dien Bien Airport has become a parking lot and exercise area for people. Mr. Vu Duy Dung - a photographer in Dien Bien said that this grass field has existed for a long time, however, in previous years when it was still within the airport area, it was very difficult to get permission to take photos. “This year, after Dien Bien Airport was upgraded, the grass field is outside the fence and anyone can enter, so many people come to take pictures,” said Mr. Dung. According to this photographer, the time from when the cogon grass blooms until it withers only lasts about 10 days. “These are the most beautiful days, every afternoon there is a sunset, in a few days there will be a cold spell and the grass will gradually wither, so I have to take my wife and children to take pictures, I can’t miss it,” said Mr. Dung.
