Manulife Vietnam always maintains strong financial resources, with reserves and payment capacity far exceeding the statutory requirements, to fulfill its commitment to its customers. According to Manulife, in the process of resolving complaints, some customers may not be satisfied when receiving a rejection letter. Discussing this issue, Mr. Sachin said: “We have tried to review the complaints as quickly as possible. However, the complaint resolution process requires a lot of time to investigate and evaluate thoroughly due to the special situation of SCB bank, as well as to prevent profiteering phenomena, affecting the legal and legitimate rights of all customers participating in purchasing insurance from Manulife Vietnam. In the process of resolving these complaints, there may be customers who are not satisfied with the solution provided. At the press conference announcing the situation and results of police work in the first 6 months of 2023 on June 30, 2023, Major General Nguyen Van Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Police Investigation of Crimes of Corruption, Economy, and Smuggling - C03, Ministry of Public Security - provided updated information on the investigation developments related to the accusation that Manulife Vietnam colluded with SCB Bank to "magically" transform customers' savings deposits into life insurance contracts.
According to Major General Nguyen Van Thanh, the Investigation Police Agency has received and studied the people's denunciations, as well as the people's records of transferring from savings books to insurance packages, and found that the records are transparent. Specifically, when people withdraw money from SCB Bank, there are clear and signed liquidation contracts. All insurance purchase contracts have the legal signature of the person whose name is on the insurance records. Major General Thanh also acknowledged the goodwill and cooperation of Manulife Vietnam with the investigation agency. Previously, on June 3, Lieutenant General To An Xo, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Security, also reminded customers not to gather in large numbers, affecting security and order.
