On January 6, Hue Central Hospital announced that it had successfully performed surgery to remove a large piece of pig bone, saving the life of a male patient.
Doctors at Hue Central Hospital removed a piece of pig bone stuck in a patient's neck.
Previously, Mr. LTV (26 years old, residing in Xuan Phu Ward, Thuan Hoa District, Hue City) accidentally swallowed a pork bone while eating porridge. The patient was hospitalized with severe pain in the throat, unable to eat or drink, mild difficulty breathing and swelling and pain in the left neck area.
Through clinical examination, neck CT scan, and flexible endoscopy of the esophagus, doctors discovered a large bone sample located in the thoracic esophagus that could cause esophageal perforation and serious damage to surrounding organs.
Currently, the male patient's health is stable and is being monitored by doctors.
The patient was immediately transferred to the operating room for an esophagoscopy. During the surgery, which lasted more than an hour, doctors removed the foreign object without causing further damage to the esophagus.
The pig bone sample has a sharp point, measuring 30 x 41 mm, located in the thoracic esophagus, 0.2 m from the upper dental arch.
After surgery, the patient is taken to the recovery room.
Currently, the patient's health condition has stabilized, is gradually recovering and is being closely monitored for post-operative complications.
