According to AppleInsider , Luxshare's exclusive production of the iPhone 16 Pro Max is certainly a strong step for the company since it became an iPhone assembly partner for Apple. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently said that Luxshare is expected to set up production lines in India with the help of Apple. And as production capacity increases, the company will receive orders for the iPhone 16 Pro Max. That's obviously a big move, since Apple usually outsources the production of its most premium iPhones to Foxconn.
Luxshare is expected to ship 45 million to 50 million iPhones in 2023, up from 20 million last year, demonstrating how Apple is ramping up its use of the partner. The company has already received some orders for the iPhone 14 Pro Max in 2022 following problems at Foxconn's Zhengzhou, China, plant. The company's progress in improving production capacity has been better than expected, and the full order for the iPhone 16 Pro Max is a reward for those efforts.
Kuo said Luxshare will be primarily responsible for the production of the iPhone 15 Plus in 2023, and will also be a sub-manufacturer for the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro Max. Next year, the company will be fully allocated to produce the iPhone 16 Pro Max, while Foxconn will be responsible for the production of the iPhone 16 Pro and 16. As for the iPhone 16 Plus, this phone model will be manufactured by "loser" Pegatron - the company that was previously excluded from the production of Apple's virtual reality glasses.
Finally, Kuo said Apple is likely to negotiate with the Indian government to help Luxshare set up production lines there. These moves by Apple and Luxshare are crucial for Apple to reduce its dependence on China.
