Postponement of announcement of university benchmark scores

VnExpressVnExpress19/08/2023

The Ministry of Education and Training filtered out the fake scores four more times, so the announcement of the benchmark scores was delayed by two days compared to the expected date.

The Ministry of Education and Training issued a notice on the afternoon of August 19 about adjusting the admission and virtual filtering plan for 2023. Accordingly, the virtual filtering will end at 2:00 p.m. on August 22. Universities will announce the benchmark scores before 5:00 p.m. on August 24. These milestones are two days later than the previous plan.

The reason given by the Ministry is that the general admission support system provides more data to support schools in many admission methods. In addition, candidates only register their wishes by major, not by combination and method. Therefore, schools need more time than expected to complete the admission process.

According to representatives of some schools, the virtual filtering system for a group of about 60 schools in the North has encountered errors in recent days. Therefore, schools are cautious in giving expected benchmark scores. The schools said that the Ministry announced to increase the number of virtual filtering times from 6 to 10 times.

Meanwhile, schools in the south have made initial predictions. Gia Dinh University and Ho Chi Minh City Technical Education University said that the standard scores for many majors increased by 1-3 points compared to last year, after three virtual filterings. Some schools such as the University of Economics and Law, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry recorded many majors decreasing by 0.5-2 points.

The announcement of benchmark scores, official admission results and confirmation of admission for candidates are adjusted according to the new plan. Instead of enrolling from August 22 to before 5pm on September 6 as originally planned, candidates will enroll from August 24 to before 5pm on September 8.

This year, more than 660,000 candidates registered for university admission with 3.4 million wishes. Because a candidate can register for many wishes, virtual filtering is used to determine the highest successful wish.
