At the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Long Bien, member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee reviewed the history of the formation and development of the Militia and Self-Defense Force (MDF). Over the past 90 years, the MDF has always maintained its tradition, promoted patriotism, and remained absolutely loyal to the Party, State and People; and always excellently fulfilled its tasks of protecting political security and social order and safety. During the resistance war against French colonialism, the MDF and local troops destroyed 23/500,000 enemy troops, disintegrated over 200,000 puppet troops and authorities, and restrained and dispersed over 90% of the total enemy forces on the entire battlefield. The feats of the MDF and local troops contributed together with the main force in the Dien Bien Phu campaign "Resounding throughout the five continents and shaking the world" and completely liberated the North, bringing the North into the period of building socialism.

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, guerrilla warfare developed strongly like never before, effectively supporting the uprising masses. The "Hands on the plow, hands on the gun", "Hands on the hammer, hands on the gun" movements of militia and self-defense forces were everywhere, in rural or urban areas, in the highlands or lowlands, forming a low-altitude fire network everywhere, protecting production and protecting localities. The militia and self-defense forces shot down 424/4,181 planes shot down in the North, capturing many pilots. In the "Dien Bien Phu in the air" campaign, the militia and self-defense forces shot down 11 planes of various types; mobilized 183 million militia and self-defense forces to build artillery and missile positions, build airports, warehouses, trenches, clear and remove enemy bombs and mines, participate in ensuring traffic, contributing to providing human and material support to the battlefield in the South.
During the process of working and fighting, the Ninh Thuan Militia and Self-Defense Force has gone through many hardships, fierceness and sacrifices, but the cadres and soldiers have always been steadfast, determined, and believed in the leadership of the Party and the victory of the revolution, uniting with the army and the people of all ethnic groups in the province and neighboring localities to defeat the enemy's plots and tricks of invasion. In particular, they closely coordinated with the main force to attack Thanh Son airport, liberating their homeland Ninh Thuan on April 16, 1975, contributing to the complete victory of the 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising, ending more than 20 years of fighting against the US to save the country, full of sacrifices, hardships but very glorious of our people.

In the cause of national construction and defense, after Ninh Thuan province was re-established on April 1, 1992, although the world and regional situation had many fluctuations and complicated developments; the socio-economic situation still faced many difficulties. However, with the attention and direction of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee, the militia and self-defense force has been built and organized with all the required components, the party member ratio reached over 27%, the union member ratio reached over 67%, actively participating in maintaining political security, social order and safety, preventing natural disasters, searching and rescuing, and working and producing, worthy of the trust of the Party Committee, the government and the people of all ethnic groups in the province.
Speaking at the ceremony, Colonel Nguyen Tuy, Commander of the Provincial Military Command, acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements of the militia and self-defense force in recent times; at the same time, he hoped that the militia and self-defense force would continue to promote its glorious tradition, constantly improve the quality of training, qualifications; combat readiness; and be absolutely loyal to the Party, State and People. Party committees and authorities at all levels need to pay more attention to the work of building and operating the militia and self-defense force, ensuring that it meets the requirements of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 15 collectives and 19 individuals with outstanding achievements in building the Militia and Self-Defense Force on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Militia and Self-Defense Force's Traditional Day (March 28, 1935 - March 28, 2025)./.
