From March 19-20, 2025, within the framework of his visit to China, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung continued his activities in Guangdong province; met with Comrade Zhang Hu, Permanent Deputy Governor of Guangdong province, and received Comrade Zhou Wei, Deputy Director of the Development and Reform Commission of Guangdong province.
At the meeting with Standing Deputy Governor of Guangdong Province Zhang Hu, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung congratulated the Party Committee, government and people of Guangdong Province on their admirable achievements in economic development, maintaining 36 consecutive years of leading the Chinese localities in terms of economic scale, with GRDP in 2024 reaching nearly 2,000 billion USD; a symbol of the success of the reform and opening up process in China.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his delight and appreciation for the positive and comprehensive development trend of the Vietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and the Community of Shared Future, which has strategic significance, reflected in enhanced political trust, positive growth in economic-trade, investment and tourism cooperation, and vibrant, substantive and effective people-to-people exchanges and local cooperation.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that Vietnam is facing new development requirements, which must be faster, more sustainable, and of better quality, aiming to successfully achieve the two 100-year goals by 2030 and 2045. The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam will continue to focus on promoting strategic breakthroughs, in parallel with accelerating digital transformation, developing science and technology, promoting the role of the most important economic growth driver of the private economic sector, and streamlining and streamlining the apparatus to be effective and efficient.
Emphasizing the view that endogenous resources are the most important and international cooperation is the key to going faster, further, and achieving greater success, the Deputy Prime Minister shared that Vietnam values and wants to refer to China's policies and experiences, including Guangdong's, on improving the investment environment, developing the private economy, and new economic models such as free trade zones and high-tech zones.
In his welcoming speech to the delegation led by the Deputy Prime Minister, Comrade Truong Ho expressed his deep appreciation for the sentiments and neighborly relationship of mountains connecting mountains, rivers connecting rivers; the traditional friendship, both comrades and brothers, left by the previous leaders.
Thanking the Deputy Prime Minister for his congratulations on the province's socio-economic development results, the Deputy Governor of Guangdong Province said that these achievements have great contributions from the private economy, which accounts for 50% of GRDP, 60% of trade turnover, 70% of innovation achievements, 80% of jobs and 90% of business entities in the whole province.
Sharing practical experience in Guangdong province, comrade Truong Ho affirmed the unwavering principle in consolidating and developing the public economy and unwavering in encouraging, supporting and leading the development of China's non-public economy.
Regarding relations with Vietnam, Permanent Deputy Governor Zhang Hu expressed his belief that under the leadership of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and General Secretary Su Lin, the relationship between the two countries will develop to new heights. In that general picture, comrade Zhang Hu affirmed that the government and enterprises of Guangdong province wish to continue to consolidate and develop relations with Vietnamese partners, promote investment cooperation, connect supply chains, participate in infrastructure development and transport connection according to the motto of mutual benefit and win-win.
The Deputy Prime Minister welcomed Chinese enterprises, especially those from Guangdong province, to invest and do business in Vietnam, expressing his desire for cooperation not only to provide capital, but also to provide management experience, technology, and cooperation in training high-quality human resources, especially in key transportation projects, developing innovation centers, big data, semiconductors, AI, etc.
Regarding cultural cooperation, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested that Guangdong create conditions and continue to promote cultural exchanges and tourism development between the two countries and between localities. The Deputy Prime Minister thanked the Guangdong provincial government for preserving the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Headquarters relic site, thereby educating the younger generations about the fine and long-standing traditions between the two countries.
At a working session with the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung asked the Commission to share experiences in developing the private economy, support policies, linking the private economy with other components of the economy; developing special economic zones and high-tech zones; building policies to attract talent and a favorable business environment.
Comrade Zhou Wei, Deputy Director of the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission, affirmed that the policy on private economic development has been implemented consistently and unchanged, incorporated into the socialist system with Chinese characteristics and continued to be legalized.
In a frank and open atmosphere, Deputy Director Chu Vi shared many experiences of the province in concretizing the Central Government's policies on private economic development, implementing pilot mechanisms, innovating administrative management and allocating resources for small and medium enterprises.
Deputy Director Zhou Wei shared that more and more Chinese enterprises want to increase investment in ASEAN, especially Vietnam, and want to promote cooperation with Vietnamese localities in infrastructure development and economic, investment and trade linkages.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed that the Vietnamese Government always attaches importance to, supports and creates favorable conditions for Vietnamese ministries, sectors and localities to strengthen cooperation with Chinese localities, including Guangdong province.
Also this morning, March 20, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung paid a working visit to the Guangzhou Metro Group; led a delegation to lay flowers at the grave of martyr Pham Hong Thai in Hoang Hoa Cuong Cemetery Park and visited the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association Headquarters.
