On the morning of January 3, the Da Nang City Border Guard Command detained drug trafficking suspect Nguyen Trong Chung (48 years old, residing in Group 35, Nai Hien Dong Ward, Son Tra District, Da Nang City).
Previously, at 8:15 p.m. on January 2, in group 37, Nai Hien Dong Ward (Son Tra District, Da Nang City), the anti-drug and crime prevention force of the Da Nang City Border Guard Command caught Nguyen Trong Chung red-handed carrying drugs to sell.
Methamphetamine evidence
Evidence seized from Chung included 7 packages of synthetic drugs weighing about 30 grams (crystal meth), 2 cell phones, 4 million VND, and 1 motorbike as a means of transportation.
Expanding the investigation, the anti-drug and crime force of the Da Nang City Border Guard Command searched Chung's residence, discovered and seized more than 40 grams of crystal meth, 1 small scale and many related exhibits.
According to records, Chung had a criminal record for drug trafficking and had just completed a 9-year prison term. Chung had abandoned his wife and two young children.
Chung confessed that despite having a criminal record, he still bought and sold drugs for profit, to earn money to spend and provide for a woman who lived with him as husband and wife.
Chung was arrested by border guards.
The Da Nang City Border Guard Command added that in 2023, the city's border forces discovered and arrested 33 cases/58 subjects related to the acts of buying, selling, transporting, storing and illegally using drugs, seizing more than 12 kg of various types of drugs.
