Journalist Martín Hacthoun of Cuba's Latin American News Agency (Prensa Latina) shared this. Journalist Hacthoun affirmed that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a person who resolutely protects the fight against corruption, strives to strengthen party discipline, promotes political stability and develops international diplomatic relations. Moved when evaluating the contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in promoting the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba, journalist Martín Hacthoun expressed: “We Cubans remember him as a dear, sincere friend, always supportive and open-armed. During his long and successful political career, he was one of the most effective promoters of the special, brotherly and mutually trusting relationship between the two Parties, National Assemblies, Governments and peoples of Vietnam and Cuba. I remember his visit to Cuba in 2018, during which he stayed in the city of Santiago de Cuba, where he paid tribute to his friend and historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, who taught us Cubans that “For Vietnam, we are willing to give our blood”. The Cuban government declared a state funeral to honor General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong as a demonstration of gratitude. Sadly saying that he would never have the special opportunity to meet and interview General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong privately like after he became Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam in 2006, journalist Martín Hacthoun shared: “I was very impressed by his simplicity, his warm brotherly expression, his sincere smile and above all his intelligence and knowledge of Vietnamese political life, of the important work of the National Assembly, of how the country needs to consolidate its development. That brief moment with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong will always be in my mind.” Ms. Poldi Sosa Schmidt - President of the Argentina-Vietnam Cultural Institute (ICAV), who is very knowledgeable about the country and people of Vietnam, said that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a person who has made great contributions to preserving and promoting national culture and the legacies left by the Vietnamese leader are enormous. Having visited Vietnam 26 times since 1997, Ms. Poldi Sosa has witnessed the admirable changes in Vietnam, the economy is increasingly developing, the infrastructure is modernized, and the people's lives are increasingly improving. She commented that this great development is thanks to the wise direction of the leaders of the Communist Party of Vietnam, especially General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. ICAV President Poldi Sosa especially emphasized the contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in preserving and promoting Vietnamese national culture. She expressed her appreciation for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's viewpoint of placing culture on par with economics, politics and society, as well as considering culture as the spiritual foundation of society. In today's globalized and integrated world, preserving the core values of the nation is of utmost importance. Ms. Poldi Sosa affirmed that in the relationship between nations, culture is always a bridge and helps nations get closer together, and friends who love Vietnam will always remember General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong as a great cultural figure. Secretary General of the Brazil-Vietnam Friendship Association (ABRAVIET), Pedro de Oliveira, also expressed his deep condolences at the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and highly appreciated the General Secretary's contributions to the development of Vietnam. Mr. Oliveira is a writer and historian, who has published many works about President Ho Chi Minh and won first prize in the Book category of the 8th National Award for Foreign Information. Mr. Pedrode Oliveira said that during many years of researching President Ho Chi Minh, he had access to the theoretical works of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, including the book "Some theoretical and practical issues on socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam". He emphasized that the articles in the book by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong clearly demonstrate the nature and core values of socialism in all aspects from politics, economics, Party building, to culture, society, national defense, security, foreign affairs, distilled from the vivid practical life of Vietnam. The ABRAVIET General Secretary highlighted the humanity in the articles of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong when he set out Vietnam's goal of building a society that is truly for the people; economic development goes hand in hand with social progress and justice; a society of compassion, solidarity, mutual support, towards progressive and humane values; sustainable development, in harmony with nature to ensure a clean living environment for present and future generations; a political system in which real power belongs to the people, by the people and serves the interests of the people. He emphasized that these are noble ideals, true values of socialism and also the goals and path that President Ho Chi Minh, the Communist Party and the Vietnamese people have chosen and always strive to achieve.
