On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh congratulated the Party Committee, government and people of An Giang province on this honor and pride. This is a special event, an honor and pride not only for An Giang but also for the Southern region and Vietnam.
An Giang is a land of talented people, rich in economic potential, the harmonious combination between people and nature, the harmonious coexistence of ethnic communities has formed folk festivals, traditional craft villages, and unique architectural works.
The land reclamation journeys of the previous generations of this land have created a unique cultural ecosystem, of which the Ba Xu Sam Mountain festival is a precious gem in that heritage treasure.
For over 200 years, the worship of Ba Chua Xu, the peak of which is the Ba Chua Xu festival on Sam Mountain in the Southern region, has become the spiritual support of millions of people, not only in the South but also spreading to many regions across the country.
It is the strong bond between the community in creating and practicing heritage that has created the strong vitality of the festival, becoming a cultural and spiritual symbol with national influence and spread, and is now listed on the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
We are happy and proud that the festival has become the 16th intangible cultural heritage of the country. The Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged and commended the efforts of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the National Cultural Heritage Council, relevant ministries, departments, sectors and localities, scientists and collectors who have actively contributed to protecting and promoting the value of the festival in particular and the cultural heritage of Vietnam in general.
Thank you and hope that international organizations, especially the UNESCO representative agency in Vietnam, will continue to accompany and support Vietnam in preserving, promoting and spreading traditional cultural values and the quintessence of human culture.
To continue to create new vitality, spread and strongly inspire the value of the festival, the Deputy Prime Minister requested the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in An Giang province and ministries, departments and branches to focus on implementing a number of tasks such as paying attention to protecting the cultural space of the heritage in the direction of ensuring harmony between conservation and development, and preserving the sacred landscape of Sam mountain.
