After nearly 3 days of being detained by the Hai Ba Trung District Police (Hanoi) for investigation of his behavior of resisting a person on duty, driver Le Tien Dung (37 years old, residing in Y Yen, Nam Dinh) said that he realized his behavior was wrong and hoped the law would show leniency.

Driver Le Tien Dung recounted that on the afternoon of March 15, he was asked by Ms. THA (20 years old, residing in Dong Da, Hanoi) to take him to drop off her child on Truong Dinh Street. After Ms. THA dropped off her child and returned to the car, officers and soldiers of Truong Dinh Ward Police informed him of an error: "Parking car with license plate 29C - 856.XX in a place with a no parking sign."

"Due to business losses, I mortgaged my car papers to borrow money. When the police asked to check, I no longer had my car papers, so I decided to flee," said driver Le Tien Dung.

According to driver Dung, he himself is aware that handling violations of stopping and parking are just normal administrative violations, but opposing the police and hitting many other vehicles on the road will be subject to criminal prosecution.

"At that time, I was just afraid that because I didn't have the vehicle registration, the police would impound my car, so I decided to run away," driver Le Tien Dung explained.

The male driver added that at the time of fleeing, he knew his car had collided with a police car and some motorbikes on the road, so he panicked and did not stop the car.

"At that time, I was scared. When I drove to a three-way or four-way intersection, I honked loudly to make people around me move out of the way. I only went into empty streets. I myself don't know how many motorbikes I crashed into on the road," said driver Dung.

Driver Le Tien Dung admitted that about 4-5 days before the incident, he used drugs (candy). The male driver said that using stimulants also affected his psychology.

After nearly 3 days of detention, driver Dung said he had calmed down and realized his actions were wrong, causing public outrage.

"I have endangered other road users. I sincerely declare the incident and hope the law will show leniency," driver Dung said apologetically.

According to the investigation agency, the behavior of driver Le Tien Dung is that of a thug, the driver had drugs in his body but still deliberately drove the vehicle. Not stopping there, Dung was also aggressive, resisting the authorities, so it is necessary to deal with it strictly to serve as a lesson, a warning to those who intend to commit similar violations.

Previously, on March 15, driver Le Tien Dung drove a pickup truck parked in a no parking area. When the ward police checked, he fled. While fleeing, Dung's car crashed into a motorbike with license plate 34S1-223.XX, then continued to crash into a car with license plate 29H-773.XX. The incident damaged 2 ward police vehicles, 1 motorbike and 1 car of a local resident.

On the same day, Hai Ba Trung District Police issued a decision to temporarily detain Le Tien Dung to investigate and clarify his act of resisting a person on official duty.
