Soursop tea

Also in April and May, besides mangosteen chicken salad, soursop tea also made young people "crazy", willing to spend effort to buy it. In just a few months, this type of tea has been on the menu of many shops in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, and has been given priority to hang promotional signs as a new dish. Each cup of soursop tea costs from 25,000 to 40,000 VND, depending on the size and type of shop.

Many people even did not mind the hot weather, driving dozens of kilometers to Long An to buy "hot tiktok soursop tea".

This is a popular tea shop in Duc Hoa district, Long An province, run by a person named Vy Anh and has been "feverish" on social media since early April 2023. The shop is cramped, has no place to sit, and mainly sells take-away tea for 10,000 - 20,000 VND per cup. Open from 9am to 7:30pm, but every day, hundreds of people line up to buy tea, so the shop often runs out early.

Last September, Korean cheese coin cakes (also known as 10 won cakes) created a "fever" among young people in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, then spread to other provinces and cities. The small cake is as small as a hand, has a unique coin shape, and contains super long cheese filling inside, which can be stretched for a meter without breaking.

It is known that coin cake is a snack originating in Korea, quite famous.

The coin cake is about 10cm in diameter, the crust is baked until golden brown, has a fragrant smell of eggs and milk, and tastes similar to a young egg cake. Inside is a filling soaked in mozzarella cheese. This can be said to be the characteristic of the cake. When eaten, the cake has a moderate softness, a light sweetness mixed with the salty taste of cheese.

In Hanoi, one of the first coin cake establishments is located in Hoi Vu (Hang Bong, Hanoi). Although it has only been open for three weeks, this cake has become a hit, causing many people to queue for 2-4 hours. Many people, although wanting to enjoy it, had to leave because of the long wait.

Hand-pounded lemon tea originated in China and first appeared in Hanoi. The recipe for making the tea is quite simple, similar to kumquat tea with basic ingredients such as tea, fresh lemon, sugar, ice... Some shops can replace sugar with honey to sweeten it.

According to the business owners, the lemon used to make this dish is Cantonese (Chinese) lemon. Cantonese lemon is more fragrant and has less juice than Vietnamese lemon, also known as perfume lemon. The lemon used to make tea is not squeezed for juice like kumquat, but is mixed with ice and pounded by hand with a plastic mortar to extract the aromatic essential oil to make tea.

Mr. Hoang The Hao (born in 1991, from Ha Giang) is one of the first people to sell this drink in Hanoi. At peak times, Mr. Hao can sell hundreds of cups of lemon tea every night thanks to his novel preparation method. Customers have to wait hours for their turn to enjoy it.

Custard cake is the cake that has become “hot” on social media after cheese coin cake. Customers have to queue and wait for hours to buy it at supermarkets in Ho Chi Minh City.

Accordingly, custard cake is known as a cake with a spongy crust, inside is a layer of soft, creamy filling. The combination of these two ingredients has satisfied many diners with a sweet tooth.

At the end of October, after a few clips giving "winged" compliments to custard cakes on social networks, this type of cake that had been around for a long time suddenly became "hot" again. People lined up from morning to night to buy it at chain stores and supermarkets. Among the stores in Ho Chi Minh City, Emart (Go Vap District, Thu Duc City) is one of the places with the largest number of customers coming to buy cakes.

According to an employee at Emart supermarket, the bakery counter currently sells 6 batches of custard cakes every day, each batch about 2 hours apart. The number of cakes ranges from 900-1,000, increasing to 1,000-1,500 on weekends. The cakes are divided equally into boxes, each box contains 3 cakes at a price of 28,000 VND/box. Previously, the number of customers was not too much, so customers could buy freely. However, currently, because there is not enough quantity of cakes, the supermarket limits each customer to buy a maximum of 2 boxes/time.

Terracotta Milk Tea

This is the latest hot dish, appearing in the last month of 2023. Terracotta milk tea (also known as baked milk tea) quickly became famous on social networking sites, and was "hunted" by many young people to enjoy.

Instead of the traditional plastic or paper cup with a large straw, the baked milk tea is served in a clay pot (some places call it a kettle). The ingredients used to make the baked milk tea cup are introduced to include dried flowers, herbs, red apples, wolfberries, etc.

The milk tea is "baked" on the stove, when the tea has a fragrant aroma, add unsweetened fresh milk. The owner uses a spoon to stir gently and evenly, when it boils, add the dried flowers and dried fruits.
