Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Belarus Nguyen Van Ngu emphasized that the Vietnam People's Army deserves to be considered a special political force, an absolutely loyal and trustworthy stronghold of the Communist Party, State and people of Vietnam.

Under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, with the broad support of the people and international friends, the Vietnam People's Army has achieved glorious victories in the struggle for national liberation, construction and protection of the Fatherland, recording in history brilliant milestones such as the Dien Bien Phu Victory, the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of 1975, culminating in the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, completely liberating the South and reunifying the country. The Ambassador affirmed that these victories will forever go down in the glorious history of the Vietnamese people and world history as outstanding achievements of the 20th century.

Ambassador Nguyen Van Ngu said that “implementing the country’s consistent foreign policy in recent years, the Vietnam People’s Army has actively promoted international integration and defense diplomacy at both bilateral and multilateral levels. It has actively participated in United Nations peacekeeping missions, international cooperation in the fields of non-traditional security, humanitarian assistance, search and rescue, and overcoming the consequences of war, making a worthy contribution to creating an environment of peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.”

Vietnam currently participates in many regional and international multilateral military and defense mechanisms and forums, has defense relations with more than 100 countries, and has established military attaché offices and defense attaché offices in 35 countries as well as at the United Nations.

Ambassador Nguyen Van Ngu also highlighted the importance of Belarus providing Vietnam with both material and spiritual support, including the Vietnam People's Army, in the struggle for liberation from foreign invaders and national reunification. The Vietnamese people will never forget this great help. Currently, in the traditional friendly relationship between the two countries, defense cooperation and military-technical cooperation are the pillars.

He shared: “Defense cooperation and military-technical cooperation are important areas in the relationship between Vietnam and Belarus, carried out through the exchange of visits, effective implementation of agreements and cooperation plans to meet the needs and interests of both sides. This cooperative relationship strengthens and enhances the defense capacity of the two countries, contributing to maintaining peace, stability and development in the region and the world.”

For his part, Major General Kasinsky affirmed: “Belarus pays great attention to strengthening its traditional friendship with Vietnam. After many years of arduous struggle for national independence and sovereignty, our people love peace and selflessly protect the Fatherland.”

He also emphasized that the joint activities of the two Ministries of Defense of Belarus and Vietnam have been bringing about significant results and are of great significance in protecting the security of the two countries.

Major General Kasinsky expressed his confidence: "The Vietnam People's Army is developing and perfecting itself into a powerful army, devoted to the people, ready to fight for the country's independence and freedom."

According to Major General Kasinsky, in the coming time, there will be an official visit of the Minister of Defense of Belarus to Vietnam, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024. The exchange of views and cooperation in areas of mutual interest will create conditions for further expanding bilateral cooperation in the military field.

In addition to the main commemorative rally, screening of documentary films on the history of the Vietnam People's Army, exhibitions of paintings and displays on the history of the Vietnam People's Army, and foreign receptions, there will also be activities to honor Belarusian veterans who worked in Vietnam.

Ambassador Nguyen Van Ngu and Vietnamese Defense Attaché to Belarus - Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Chien - presented gifts of gratitude to the veterans, demonstrating the respect of the Party, State and Vietnam People's Army for the support of Belarus, including Belarusian veterans, for Vietnam's revolutionary cause, as well as the work of building and strengthening the traditional friendship between the two countries.
