Belarus has possessed Oreshnik hypersonic missile?

An autonomous vehicle chassis for an unidentified missile system has appeared on the streets of Belarus. The Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies drew attention to this issue through a video posted on its Telegram channel.

The footage shows a 12x12 wheeled tractor driving out of the parking lot of the Minsk Wheeled Tractor Plant.

On March 19, Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Alexander Volfovich announced that Minsk will soon transfer vehicles equipped with the Oreshnik missile system to Russia. Earlier, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced that the Oreshnik launcher is being produced in Minsk.

According to President Lukashenko, the choice of the Oreshnik deployment site will depend on the missile's technical parameters. Because "it's not good if the targets are too close. But when they are very far away, the missile can still carry a smaller payload," Mr. Lukashenko explained.

Mr Lukashenko said Belarus wanted to acquire at least 10 Oreshnik missile systems, but he admitted that a transfer on such a scale would be economically costly, especially since Russia also needs to deploy the Oreshniks.

According to information from the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Oreshnik missile is designed to fly at Mach 10 (about 12,200 km/h), which is 10 times the speed of sound. The Russian military asserts that the destructive power of the Oreshnik is even stronger than a tactical nuclear attack but does not spread radioactive dust.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on December 26, 2024 that Moscow was in no rush to use its latest hypersonic missile but would not hesitate to act if necessary.

Mr. Putin affirmed that Oreshnik is almost impossible to intercept, even with the most advanced Western air defense systems today.

In 2023, Russia deployed tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus at Lukashenko's request amid concerns that several NATO countries in Europe were also deploying similar arsenals.

US integrates new anti-tank missile on Bradley vehicle

The US M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle has received a new missile of unknown technical name.

The new missile was spotted during a Bradley Fighting Vehicle training exercise, the military news site TWZ reported. The publication drew attention to a photo of a vehicle firing an unknown missile from a TOW anti-tank missile launcher. The US Army calls it the 670. The test firing was conducted as part of the Convergence-Capstone 5 project at Fort Irwin in California.

Based on the published images, the mysterious missile is powered by a small rocket engine. The missile is also equipped with a folding stabilizer at the tail. The author admits that the homing head may be mounted at the nose. The fuselage is divided into three sections, which may indicate a modular design.

The design of the “670” product is very different from the TOW missile versions. At the same time, the use of an ATGM launcher also shows that the new missile has similar dimensions.

"Whatever the mysterious Model 670 is, it highlights the potential for the Bradley TOW launcher to evolve into a more versatile system," TWZ posted.

In early March 2025, Mach Industries unveiled a concept for a vertical-launch cruise missile being developed as part of the U.S. Army's Strategic Strike test program. If mass-produced, the new missile would cost less than the GMLRS currently used with the HIMARS system.

Britain wants to be able to independently use nuclear weapons

Britain wants the right to independently use nuclear weapons to deter Russia amid growing concerns about its vulnerability to political changes in White House doctrine.

"Once the missiles are installed on submarines, their deployment is a matter for Her Majesty's Government and no one else - there is no doubt about that," a senior British naval official said, reported RIA Novosti.

As the author of the article recalls, although the UK develops and produces its own nuclear warheads and guidance systems, it must use Trident II D5 missiles leased from the US to launch nuclear warheads to targets.

Britain and the United States still operate under the 1958 Mutual Defense Treaty, which allows for the transfer of technical expertise between the two countries. In 1963, US President John F. Kennedy granted Britain sole control over the use of nuclear weapons using US delivery systems.
