Playground for piano talents

Ms. Ha Mai Huong - Director of Hue Academy of Music, head of the organizing committee - said the competition is for all piano enthusiasts to show their talent without being constrained by any standards.

Vietnam's Piano Got Talent has two categories: professional and amateur.

The Professional Exam is for candidates who have studied music at a professional music training institution or have a piano level with an internationally recognized certificate. This exam does not discriminate based on age.

The amateur league is divided into four age groups for competition: under 10, 10-13, 14-17 and 18 and over.

The jury includes: Mr. Ta Quang Dong - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism (head of the jury), Ms. Ha Mai Huong - Director of Hue Academy of Music, Ms. Trieu Tu My - Vietnam National Academy of Music, Mr. Truong Ngoc Chien - Hue Academy of Music, Ms. Eun Young Joo - Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, Ms. Dang Ngoc Giang Quan - Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music.

Ms. Ha Mai Huong emphasized that to ensure fairness and objective evaluation for contestants, the organizing committee invited judges from many units.

In which, the person taking on the role of head judge is Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong, not from Hue Academy of Music.

Emphasize the candidate's "musical sense" criteria

Regarding the judging criteria, the judges base their decisions on melody, rhythm, performance posture, expression of nuances, style, and musical perception of the contestants. In particular, musical perception is given top priority.

Vietnam's Piano Got Talent's preliminary round takes place from May 15 to July 15 online.

The final round will take place in Ho Chi Minh City, Hue and Hanoi, during July and August 2024.

The final round and performance are scheduled for August 10 at the Huong River Theater - Hue Academy of Music.

The organizers said they held the contest in the summer to attract more contestants.
