French people in Morbihan province recently had the opportunity to participate in many activities to learn and explore Vietnamese culture in a diverse and colorful way at the Vietnam Festival event.
Organized by the Languidic City Hall together with the ART SPACE Association and the Vietnam Bretagne Sud Association, the Vietnam Festival includes a series of events such as: introducing Vietnamese culture in schools, performing Vietnamese art with both folk and contemporary performances, the puppet play "The Legend of Banh Chung and Banh Day" at the city library...

The event is part of the community and international cultural exchange project TOUCHER ARTS founded by the ART SPACE Association, with the participation of 33 members who are Vietnamese and Vietnamese-origin students aged 13-17 from Vietnam, Canada, Australia, Japan, France...
Taking place on June 28 and 29, the program had the participation of Mr. Laurent Duval, Mayor of Languidic city, along with nearly 1,000 French people who love and are interested in Vietnamese culture living in Languidic and neighboring cities such as Lorient, Larmor-Plage, Kervignac, Queven...
Promote Vietnamese language and culture
With the desire to convey the beauty of the Vietnamese language and Vietnamese cultural traditions to international friends, TOUCHER ARTS project members chose to tell Vietnamese fairy tales in Vietnamese and French bilingual languages such as “The Legend of Banh Chung and Banh Day”, combined with the form of puppetry, making the young audience extremely excited.

French children and their families were also excited to answer questions about Vietnamese culture to receive gifts and to learn more about Vietnamese traditions and customs.
The entire script, translation, stage design and drawing, character control, narration, workshop instruction, etc. were all completed by young Vietnamese people from all over the world. It is known that the members spent three months preparing for this project before coming to France.

Ms. Isabelle Masson-Courtet, Director of Languidic Music School and Library, shared: “I recently participated in a puppet show telling the story of “The Legend of Banh Chung and Banh Day”, related to the traditions of the Vietnamese Tet holiday.
The young audience watched attentively and were extremely excited. I really appreciate the effort you put into the script, preparing the puppets, the decorations, and the performance.”
With the theme of Vietnamese customs, more than 100 international students, Vietnamese people in France and French friends in Ao Dai paraded together to introduce Vietnamese cultural traditions such as Mid-Autumn Festival, Lunar New Year..., recreating unique images such as parallel sentences, giving lucky money envelopes...

The parade was also organized on a large and grand scale and received the support and encouragement of many French people living in neighboring areas.
Colorful Vietnam
On the evening of June 28, an art performance called “Vietnamese Paints and Colors” introduced the beauty of Vietnamese music and art to the French audience at the Festival.
The selected works with folk but no less modern influences brought French audiences a fresh breeze to experience Vietnamese art in a completely different way.

We can mention the Minh Long Mordelles traditional martial arts club from Mordelles city, with a performance called “A round of Vietnam” combining martial arts and art; artists from the Vietnamese Cultural Center in Paris with a performance of traditional bamboo musical instruments that delighted the French audience.
Designer Ella Phan also presented the program with a collection of ao dai called "Flow" inspired by historical periods, which left the French audience in awe.

In addition, folk and contemporary dance performances by Vietnamese students and French children helped introduce Vietnamese music to international friends in a youthful and unique way.
Youth solidarity
The Festival is not only an opportunity to introduce Vietnamese culture, country and people, but is also considered an important event connecting the Vietnamese community living around the world to gather in France to promote the homeland's culture to international friends.

In addition to the French community who love Vietnam and overseas Vietnamese living in many neighboring cities such as Lorient, Larmor Plage, Languidic, Nantes, Rennes... the event also had the participation of 33 Vietnamese and Vietnamese-origin students from 13 to 17 years old, from Canada, England, France, Australia, Japan and Vietnam.
