On the morning of February 15, Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) held a ceremony to kick off the new year and break ground for the Ho Chi Minh Air Traffic Control Center - ATCC/HCM.
Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh City Air Traffic Control Center - ATCC/HCM project will replace the existing Air Traffic Control Center which has begun to reach the end of its life, its technology is partly outdated, and its infrastructure and equipment have begun to deteriorate. Meanwhile, technology and equipment in the aviation sector around the world have made great strides to meet the rapid development in the field of air transport.
In particular, Ho Chi Minh Air Traffic Control Center ensures the provision of approach control services for Long Thanh International Airport when phase 1 is completed by the end of 2025 and Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
The representative of the contractor consortium said that the unit will closely coordinate with the investor to ensure the project is implemented on schedule, with quality and safety according to the plan.
At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Cong Long, Acting General Director of VATM, said that the project to build the Ho Chi Minh Air Traffic Control Center will provide services to ensure flight operations such as: air traffic control, flight operations monitoring, aviation communications, air traffic flow management for civil aviation, military transport and other specialized flight operations.
Given the special importance of the project, the Ministry of Transport issued an “urgent construction order for the Ho Chi Minh Air Traffic Control Center” on February 2. The project officially started today (February 15) and will be completed by mid-2025.
After the groundbreaking ceremony, the investor will be determined to deploy and maximize capacity to successfully implement the project, while closely coordinating with consultants, contractors, and supervisors to maintain progress and ensure quality.
The project “Ho Chi Minh Air Traffic Control Center - ATCC/HCM” has a total investment of nearly 1,500 billion VND, including: the Ho Chi Minh Air Traffic Control Center operation building built on an area of 2,360 m2. The total construction floor area is 12,600 m2 in Ward 4, Tan Binh District (HCMC) with 2 self-standing antenna towers 65 m high, electrical and water technical station and underground water tank. |
