According to Pravda, Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, said that the country's unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) attacked the Ufimsky oil refinery in the Russian city of Ufa. The attack site is located more than 1,500km from the Ukrainian border.
According to Russian Telegram channels, multiple explosions at the Ufimsky plant occurred at 2:38 a.m. (local time).
Meanwhile, the SHOT Telegram channel, which is affiliated with Russian special services, reported that a fire broke out at the Ufimsky plant covering an area of 100 square meters.
According to Mr. Kovalenko, Ufimsky is one of the largest oil refineries in Russia. The capacity of this facility is about 20 million tons of oil per year. According to the Ukrainian official, Ufimsky plays a strategically important role for the Russian military, because the plant is part of a group of enterprises that are supplying fuel to the Russian armed forces.
