Professor Ha Thanh Toan, Rector of Can Tho University, said that the Mekong Delta Sustainable Development Forum is one of the activities under the Government's policy, chaired by Can Tho University, aiming to connect domestic and international stakeholders, contributing to proposing orientations, policies and solutions for the Government, agencies, departments and branches; at the same time promoting cooperation in building and implementing practical programs and projects, contributing to the sustainable development of the Mekong Delta.

Revolving around the forum theme, the presentations from domestic and foreign speakers all agreed that science is the shortest path to achieving the goal of prosperity. Science and technology, innovation and entrepreneurship, promoting business and community development, are important resources in the development of the region and the whole country, especially in the era of the fourth industrial revolution. International experience has proven that in the current trend of integration and development, entrepreneurship and business creation are important driving forces of the economy, contributing to solving global difficulties and challenges as well as towards sustainable development of the Mekong Delta in particular and the whole country in general.

To promote science, technology, innovation and startups to help the Mekong Delta develop prosperously, according to experts, it is necessary to focus on developing the human resource foundation. Promote the formation of a culture of innovation, startup culture, and entrepreneurial spirit. Develop a young generation with the ability to adapt, interact, and be proactive in the global context. Develop and mobilize support resources, investment funding for innovative startup activities from both the public and private sectors. New initiatives need attention and support from management agencies, participation in ordering, attracting, testing, etc. At the same time, it is necessary to promote cooperation between enterprises, institutes, and schools in the direction of ordering and transferring technology; restructure science and technology programs and tasks in the direction of taking enterprises as the center, linking with product value chains, creating high added value, improving the quality and quantity of science and technology goods supply on the market, etc.
