When the housewife does not use cash

Hoa Vang district has just launched the “Cashless Payment Market” model and signed a contract to deploy it in 11 communes in the area. Although it has just been deployed, more than 2,000 accounts have been printed with QR codes for business households, small traders and people to use. At rural markets, now sitting in restaurants, grocery stores, stationery stores, and clothing stores, it is easy to “scan” and “transfer” for all transactions.

Actually, cashless transactions are no longer strange in the city center. But for rural markets, it is still very new. Especially for housewives and small traders in rural areas who have just "upgraded" their phones, created online accounts and have a QR code.

There is a beginning, then there is an end. This newness also started with each of us many years ago. It is the same with housewives and small traders in the city's central markets. They said that when selling souvenirs to Chinese tourists - the country with the highest rate of cashless payments in the world - many customers asked about paying via QR codes and mobile payment applications. The whole market was bewildered and had to rely on a service provider specializing in downloading foreign payment apps for transactions.

Then banks came to invite people to use the service, so almost everyone selling to tourists in this market has a QR code and accepts cashless payments. Many merchants even have mobile payment application platforms from many banks. Getting acquainted with these services is first of all to meet the needs of customers. Not only in the market but also many entertainment spots in Da Nang have accepted cashless payments for a long time. Especially in the beach areas, where customers do not like to carry money and cumbersome belongings.

There are many conveniences that Han market traders mentioned when choosing cashless payment. First of all, it is the common mentality of tourists, when visiting a strange place, they often limit carrying a lot of cash. Tourists are also very hesitant to use ATM cards because they are worried that the card is not compatible with the banking system. But more importantly, many international visitors when using Vietnamese currency are not familiar with the market price, so sometimes there are mistakes. Therefore, choosing to use cashless payment via the app makes them feel secure because the documents and transaction history are clear. Meanwhile, it only takes a few seconds for a transaction, which is very fast and safe.

On the other hand, the money coming in and going out in the accounts of small traders and housewives also makes it easier to “close the books” after each trading day. It is truly convenient for both sides…

According to the plan to develop e-commerce and organize the implementation of the cashless payment Market 4.0 model, the city will also deploy it at all 3 market levels to promote digital transformation, creating conditions for consumers to access modern payment methods (VietQR, Mobile Money, e-wallets, etc.).

To achieve the results as today, in addition to the general policy of the State, the city has deployed earlier than other localities thanks to its own advantages. That is the foundation of digital infrastructure, the result of digital transformation that the government has persistently implemented over many years. This has helped raise awareness, helping people get acquainted with the concepts and practice of digitalizing transactions both in public and civil agencies. This foundation plus the advantage of urban, young citizens who are quick to catch up with technology. The advantage of favorable time, place and people when having the additional advantage of being a tourist area with a large number of international visitors with convenient payment needs has contributed to spreading cashless payment activities.

With its convenience in many aspects, the rate of cashless transactions will increase further in the near future when society transforms digitally and the Government encourages cashless payments. From now on, from tourist markets, shopping points, entertainment areas or even street vendors, with just a smartphone in hand, all transactions will be carried out quickly. From now on, not only in the city but also in the countryside markets, mothers, sisters, and housewives will also know how to pay "ting ting" by heart.
