On October 11, in Nha Trang City, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa Province opened the 4th Provincial Ethnic Minority Congress - 2024. Attending the congress were 200 delegates representing more than 82,000 people from 35 ethnic minorities residing in the province.

According to Decision No. 861 of the Prime Minister, Khanh Hoa province has 28 communes in ethnic minority and mountainous areas; there are 66 extremely difficult villages according to Decision No. 612 of the Minister, Chairman of the Ethnic Committee; there are 3 ethnic groups still facing many difficulties according to Decision No. 1227 of the Prime Minister, namely the Raglai, Ede, and Co-Ho. The above-mentioned ethnic groups also account for a high proportion among the 35 ethnic minorities living and working in Khanh Hoa province, specifically the Raglai ethnic group accounts for the largest proportion with 77.62%, the Co-Ho accounts for 7.96%, the Ede accounts for 5.22%, residing mainly in the mountainous areas of Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh districts.
Reporting at the congress on the results of socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee said that in the period of 2019-2024, the province has invested 5,600 billion VND in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. Capital from national target programs has focused on investing and supporting extremely disadvantaged communes and villages to implement policies, creating favorable conditions for people to access basic social services, and essential infrastructure has been gradually invested and completed to serve people's lives and production, and circulation of goods in the locality.
In the cultural field, over the past 5 years, the functional sectors of Khanh Hoa province have also implemented many programs to preserve and develop the traditional culture of ethnic minorities. The values of traditional cultural heritage of ethnic minorities have been inventoried, collected, preserved, displayed, propagated, preserved and promoted; typical and valuable tangible cultures such as ma la, gongs, drums, jars, household utensils, etc. have been preserved and promoted by ethnic minorities; traditional festivals such as: New Rice Festival, Gratitude Ceremony, Water Wharf Worship Ceremony, etc. have been restored and preserved.
Khanh Hoa province has mobilized and guided a number of tourist destinations in the province to develop programs to promote and introduce the cultural heritage values of ethnic minorities to tourists through music performances, festivals, cuisine combined with eco-tourism, etc. Coordinate with agencies and localities to research and develop policies to support artisans to guide and teach in ethnic minority communities to spread and popularize traditional cultural values; support investment in construction and purchase of equipment for more than 80 cultural and sports institutions in villages; build 17 community bookcases; support the activities of 31 art troupes, etc. in villages in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
The unique cultural features of ethnic groups are recreated on the congress stage.
Along with that, organize typical cultural, artistic, and sports activities of ethnic minorities in the province through activities such as sports festivals, competitions, performances, festivals, etc. at the "Vietnam Ethnic Culture Festival April 19", Vietnam National Great Unity Day, Periodic Sports Festival Program, etc. to strengthen solidarity, attachment, mutual love and affection among ethnic minorities.
Regularly maintain propaganda, dissemination and mobilization work to build a cultural life; raise awareness, knowledge and skills to build happy families; implement gender equality; prevent domestic violence; prevent child abuse; eliminate backward customs in ethnic minority families, etc., contributing to raising awareness of ethnic minorities in social life, marriage and family.

At the congress, Deputy Minister, Vice Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Y Vinh Tor congratulated the achievements of the Party Committee, government, army and people of ethnic minorities in Khanh Hoa province. At the same time, he awarded certificates of merit from the Minister, Chairman of the Ethnic Committee to the Ethnic Committee of Khanh Hoa province and 5 individuals with outstanding achievements; and presented the "For the cause of ethnic development" medal to 5 individuals.
