Accordingly, at 6:15 p.m. today, April 21, the HH84 freight train pulling 18 freight cars (847 tons) passed through Bai Gio tunnel safely. Thus, after 10 days of interruption due to the landslide incident at Bai Gio railway tunnel through Deo Ca in Dai Lanh commune, Van Ninh district, Khanh Hoa province, from 6:00 p.m. this afternoon, all trains can run through the tunnel at a speed of 5km/h.
Train SE8 was the first passenger train to pass through the tunnel at around 18:35 with about 300 passengers.
Previously, at 12:45 on April 12, a serious landslide occurred at Bai Gio tunnel (Deo Ca), blocking the North-South railway for nearly 10 days.
Immediately after the incident, the railway industry mobilized hundreds of workers, vehicles, and machinery to work with construction units day and night to urgently fix the problem.
However, due to complex geological conditions, continuous landslides, and limited construction sites, troubleshooting work encountered many difficulties, causing difficulties and severe damage to infrastructure and railway traffic as thousands of passengers had to return their tickets and hundreds of freight trains had to be canceled.
The landslide at Bai Gio tunnel has seriously affected the North-South railway traffic, and trains from both directions cannot travel.
To maintain transportation operations, minimize damage and impact on passengers, over the past 10 days, the railway industry has safely transported nearly 30,000 passengers on 110 trains.
While waiting for transfer, passengers are served free meals and drinks. The railway industry regularly informs and updates passengers and shippers about troubleshooting.
