Accurately assess teaching and learning capacity
The quality assessment for 12th graders in Hanoi took place over three days, from March 21 to 23. Students took exams in two compulsory subjects: Literature and Mathematics, along with two elective subjects out of nine: English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Information Technology, Technology, Economic and Legal Education.
Students will take the test according to the general questions compiled by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, ensuring that they are consistent with the current general education program. The test structure is designed according to the high school graduation exam format from 2025, helping students get used to the new question-setting method.
March 21 : In the morning, students will take the Literature test for 120 minutes. In the afternoon, they will take the Math test for 90 minutes, followed by a Foreign Language test for 50 minutes.
March 22 : In the morning, students will take exams in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (50 minutes/subject). In the afternoon, continue with Information Technology and Technology (50 minutes/subject).
March 23 : History, Geography, Economic Education and Law are held in the morning, each subject lasts 50 minutes.
The survey was conducted systematically by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, aiming to test students' knowledge mastery, measure the quality of teaching and learning, and create conditions for students to adjust their review methods before the important exam. This is considered a trial exam, a practice test to help students get acquainted with the high school graduation exam according to the new program.
The results from the survey will also help schools and teachers accurately assess student quality, adjust effective review plans, and suit each group of students, contributing to improving teaching effectiveness and improving high school graduation exam results.
Teacher Doan Thi Hoai Yen, Tran Nhan Tong High School shared: "The purpose of this survey is to help the education sector, schools, and teachers have an overall view of student quality, and at the same time, it is an opportunity for students to practice with exam questions that have a similar structure to the high school graduation exam. The results from the survey will be an important basis for teachers to adjust teaching methods and guide students to review more effectively."
Although the survey results do not affect the semester test scores (the survey results are not included in the students' official academic grades), most students are still aware of the importance of this test. They have also seriously prepared for the survey.
Nguyen Hoang Khanh Chi, a 12A1 student at Tran Nhan Tong High School, shared: "The survey is an important opportunity for me to assess whether my knowledge level is ready for the graduation exam or not. Although I have been exposed to the new exam format during the review process, I am still a bit worried. From now until the official exam takes place, I hope to have more opportunities to practice so that I can maximize my confidence."
Serious and objective organization process
To organize the survey, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training divided the city into 16 school clusters, ensuring the principles of safety, seriousness and honestly reflecting the quality of teaching and learning. The test was graded centrally according to the graduation exam grading guidelines, helping schools have accurate data on student capacity.
Deputy Head of the testing site at Khuong Dinh High School, Le Thi Thu Giang, said that the school has prepared all conditions from facilities to human resources for the survey to take place seriously, helping students have the experience of an official exam to ensure objectivity and help students get used to the exam atmosphere. The assignment of invigilators, supervisors, as well as the stages of organizing the exam are all carried out according to the High School Graduation Exam Regulations issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, and the heads of the test sites are rotated between schools.
Head of the Cau Giay High School testing site, Nguyen Thi Hoa Chi, also emphasized: "For this survey, we have organized closely so that students can have the best preparation for the official exam. The exam process and organization are all carried out in accordance with the High School Graduation Exam Regulations."
On March 20, 11th graders across Hanoi also participated in a quality assessment in two subjects: Math and Literature. This is the second consecutive year that the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has conducted a survey for 11th graders, helping them get acquainted with the exam format and assess their abilities. The survey received consensus from students and parents.
