In the final round of the 24th Road to Olympia, accompanying Nguyen Nguyen Phu, Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted, were 3 contestants: Tran Trung Kien (Le Hong Phong High School, Phu Yen); Nguyen Quoc Nhat Minh (Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted, Gia Lai); Vo Quang Phu Duc (Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted - Hue, Thua Thien Hue).
According to the draw results, Nguyen Phu was in 1st place; Nhat Minh was in 2nd place; Phu Duc was in 3rd place and Trung Kien was in 4th place. The contestants went through 4 rounds: Warm-up, Overcoming obstacles, Acceleration and Finishing.
The Warm-up round is divided into 2 separate and shared rounds. In the separate round, each contestant answers 6 questions. If the answer is correct, the contestant gets 10 points, if the answer is wrong, no points are deducted.
Nguyen Phu was the first contestant. With calmness and confidence, the male student went through 6 questions and scored 40 points. The remaining contestants scored as follows: Nhat Minh (20 points), Phu Duc (60 points) and Trung Kien (40 points).
At the end of the round, Nguyen Phu scored 45 points, ranking 3rd after Phu Duc (75 points), Trung Kien (50 points) and before Nhat Minh (15 points).
In the Obstacle Course, Phu Duc rang the bell, solved the crossword puzzle correctly, scored a full 90 points and continued to lead with 135 points. Nguyen Phu and the two players Nhat Minh and Trung Kien kept the same score.
The 4 climbers moved on to the third round - Acceleration with 4 questions. Nguyen Phu scored 30 points on the first question. The second question, the male student of the Pedagogical College got 10 points and did not score points on questions 3 and 4.
After the Acceleration round, Nguyen Phu had 105 points, Trung Kien had 120 points, Nhat Minh had 85 points and Phu Duc was in the lead with 235 points.
In the Finish Line round, Nguyen Phu impressed with a spectacular comeback. First, Nguyen Phu won 20 points from Phu Duc's package when he gave the answer "storm tree".
As the second contestant, a student from Hanoi Pedagogical University chose the 20-30-20 question package. Question 1 was about metals that play an important role in the electric vehicle battery industry. Nguyen Phu answered correctly and won 20 points. In the 30-point question, Nguyen Phu did not choose the star of hope. The male student answered this question incorrectly.
For the last question, Nguyen Phu chose the star of hope. This was a question related to a physical phenomenon, and the male student almost immediately gave the correct answer, "superconductivity". At the end of his test, Nguyen Phu excellently achieved a score of 185.
Next, taking advantage of his English, the male student from the Pedagogical College answered correctly the question in Trung Kien's test, scoring 215 points - rising to 2nd place, only 20 points behind Phu Duc.
The final round continued to be dramatic in Nhat Minh's performance. In the last question of the Finish Line competition, Nhat Minh answered incorrectly, Phu Duc pressed the buzzer to take the right and gave an incorrect answer, so 15 points were deducted.
At the end of the competition, with 220 points, Phu Duc won the championship, Nguyen Phu ranked second with 215 points, Trung Kien 145 points and Nhat Minh 85 points. As runner-up, Nguyen Phu received a prize of 200 million VND.
With an excellent performance, a calm, modest but dedicated playing style, especially a spectacular comeback, although there was some regret because he was only 5 points behind the Champion, but for the teachers and friends of Chuyen Su Pham, Nguyen Phu was the winner.
“Congratulations on Nguyen Phu’s competition results. The National University of Education High School is forever proud of you” - many teachers and friends sent messages to the 24th runner-up of Road to Olympia, Nguyen Nguyen Phu.
