(NLDO) - Hanoi National University has 4 fields/field groups in the top 400, 7 fields/field groups ranked in the top 500
On March 13, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) announced that the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Education Organization has just announced the results of the 2025 university rankings. VNU has made a strong breakthrough with 2 groups of fields and 12 fields ranked (of which 10/12 fields are in the top 500).

Of the 12 fields of VNU ranked in the 2025 rankings, 5 fields were ranked for the first time, 5 fields increased their ranking position compared to the previous period, and 1 field was ranked again. Notably, VNU has 4 fields/field groups in the top 400, 7 fields/field groups ranked in the top 500.
Also in this ranking, VNU has 2 groups of fields re-ranked: the engineering and technology group in the top 451-500 and the social sciences and management group in the top 501-50. Specifically:
The Engineering & Technology sector returned to the 451-500 global ranking and remained stable with 1 newly ranked sector and 2 sectors increasing their ranking positions.
- The Engineering – Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacture sector increased its ranking to the top 401-450 with a score increase from 51.5 to 55.3 points. This sector has been ranked for 6 consecutive years, from the 2019 ranking period to present.
- The field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering increased its ranking to top 401-450 with the same score as the previous ranking period of 54.3 points.
- The field of Chemical Engineering is ranked for the first time in the world's top 401-450.
- The field of Computer Science & Information Systems continues to be ranked in the top 551-600. This is the field of VNU that has been ranked for 7 consecutive years since the QS WUR by Subject 2019.
Natural Sciences: Increased both in number and ranking position with 1 newly ranked field, 1 re-ranked field and 1 field increasing in ranking position.
- Mathematics increased its ranking position and entered the world's top 301-350 for the first time in this ranking period. This is also a field that is ranked consistently at a high position and has increased steadily over the past 6 rankings.
- Physics & Astronomy increased its ranking points and was ranked again in the top 601-675. This field has also been ranked consecutively in 6 rankings so far.
- The field of Environmental Metal Sciences was ranked for the first time and is in the top 451-500 in the world. Although it was ranked for the first time, the citation index score of this field is relatively high (80 points).
The Social Sciences & Management field group is ranked in the top 501-550 in the world and has the strongest increase with 5 fields ranked in the top 500 in the world (3/5 fields are ranked in the top 400), of which 3/5 fields are ranked, the remaining 2/5 fields increase their ranking position. The citation score on articles of this field group is 84.7 points.
- Business & Management Studies has increased its ranking position to the 451-500 group in the world.
- Economics & Econometrics continues to rise in position after being ranked for the first time in the world's top 401-450.
- The field of Sociology is ranked for the first time in the top 301-375 in the world. VNU is also the only university in Vietnam ranked in this field.
- Accounting & Finance is ranked for the first time in the world's top 301-375. The citations per paper score for this subject is 86.2.
- The field of Law & Legal Studies is ranked for the first time in the top 351-400 in the world. VNU is also the only university in Vietnam ranked in this field.
The QS World University Rankings 2025 ranks 1,747 higher education institutions with around 21,000 university degree programmes.
