"It's a pity that the goal didn't come. The players played fast, tried to control the game but the opponent didn't let us play the ball ," coach Cristiano Roland commented on the first match of U17 Vietnam in the 2025 AFC U17 qualifiers. The home team drew 0-0 with U17 Kyrgyzstan in a match where both sides missed many opportunities.

The head coach of Vietnam U17 added: "We created many opportunities but unfortunately could not score. My players are young. Every match is a lesson for them to grow up.

I think this was a good match. Congratulations to the whole team, but in the future the players need to have better performances. We will focus on each match."

Vietnam U17 entered the match confidently in handling the ball. However, the home team was stuck in front of the opponent's tight defense. Coach Roland's students played much better in the second half but failed to take advantage of the opportunity.

Vietnam U17 was also lucky not to concede a goal in this match. The home team's defense still had many careless situations, creating opportunities for Kyrgyzstan U17.

"I don't comment on any individual, U17 Vietnam is a team. The players showed solidarity and played their best. We are a team. They all have good quality and are full of potential," said coach Cristiano Roland.

Captain Le Huy Viet Anh emphasized the team's determination to improve their playing style and overcome weaknesses in the next match: "The whole team showed great determination but were unlucky and did not achieve the goal set from the beginning. Next, we will review today's match and learn from our experience, try to improve our shortcomings and do better than what we have shown."

In the second match taking place on October 25, U17 Vietnam will face U17 Myanmar. At the 2024 Southeast Asian U16 tournament that took place not long ago, Viet Anh and his teammates defeated this opponent 5-1.
