U.17 Vietnam plays 2 matches with Oman
Vietnam U17 team began gathering in Hanoi on February 22 and started training under the guidance of head coach Cristiano Roland. During nearly a month of training, the young Vietnamese players have gone through 3 practice matches for the coaching staff to evaluate personnel and test tactics. On March 22, the Vietnam U17 team will go to Oman for training, to complete the final preparations before competing in the 2025 AFC U17 Championship finals.
In Oman, the Vietnam U.17 team will play two friendly matches with the U.17 team of this country. It can be said that this is a quality opponent for coach Cristiano Roland's students to compete, hone their skills and gain more battle experience before competing in a more important arena.
According to the plan, the Vietnam U.17 team will train in Oman until March 29. After that, coach Roland and his team will move to Saudi Arabia to attend the 2025 AFC U.17 finals.
Vietnam U.17 has prepared quite thoroughly for the 2025 AFC U.17 finals, with the goal of passing the group stage.
"Take it one game at a time"
At the 2025 AFC U-17 Championship, Vietnam U-17 is in a group with defending champion Japan U-17, Australia U-17 and UAE U-17. Vietnam U-17 will play against Australia U-17 at 10:00 p.m. on April 4. In the second match, coach Roland and his team will face Japan U-17 at 10:00 p.m. on April 7. In the final match of the group stage, Vietnam U-17 will face UAE U-17 at 10:00 p.m. on April 10.
Match schedule of U.17 Vietnam at the 2025 AFC U.17 Finals
Despite being in a difficult group, coach Roland is still confident in the competitiveness of U.17 Vietnam. The Brazilian "captain" said that the challenge for U.17 Vietnam is very big, but with careful preparation and determination, the whole team is striving towards the goal of passing the group stage and going deep into the tournament. "Just like in the qualifying round, we will try to solve each match at the 2025 AFC U-17 Finals. I have talked about the things that need to be improved since the qualifying round and have planned in daily practice. We are always focused and aiming for the highest goal for Vietnamese football," Mr. Roland emphasized.
At the 2025 AFC U17 Championship, Vietnam U17 also has a chance to win a ticket to the 2025 U17 World Cup. According to FIFA's decision, from 2025 onwards, the U17 World Cup will be held annually instead of every two years as before, and the number of participating teams will increase from 24 to 48. Of which, Asia will be given 8 places to participate.

Coach Cristiano Roland once led Vietnam U.17 to qualify for the U.17 Asian Cup, before moving to work in the V-League as the coach of Da Nang Club. However, not long after that, Mr. Roland left the Han River team and "reunited" with the Vietnam U.17 team.
This means that the 8 teams that make it to the quarter-finals of the 2025 AFC U-17 Championship will qualify for the U-17 World Cup. Thus, if they pass the group stage, Vietnam U-17 will participate in the world's largest playground for the U-17 age group.
